2. Here's one example from Florida
My 71 year old dad became precinct leader on Monday, in a big South Florida district. He had exactly two weeks experience as a canvasser, total. He never worked an election before. The precinct leader quit on Monday morning. My dad couldn't believe how disorganized everything was, people coming in for only an hour or so every day and the canvassing lists and maps either awful or missing. I doubt that's representative, but probably an indication we weren't as prepared as the media led us to believe.

3. Nobody's going to like this--but here's the truth.
The Dems put underpaid children in charge of campaigns. The Rethugs put well paid professionals in charge of campaigns.

in time.

6. Did we?
Kerry will get 5-6 million more votes than Gore did. Only problem is Bush's base, especially evangelicals, turned out even more with the gay marriage propositions, ect.

11. we did pretty good on getting out the vote, but Bush had years to do it
and it's easier to get out the vote for Bush's people since single issue like gay marriage can get them out. so they put gay marriage on a bunch of ballots to help turn out the vote and it worked.

12. They beat us, they got out the vote more than we did
They didn't even have to do anything themselves. They 'worked' through the churches. Mainly Protestant but even my Catholic Church. A sady day indeed.

13. You didn't fail. It was the "Provisional Ballots" that failed. Students
and others who had changed addresses (which is what young folks have to do these days...I did it myself) needed "Provisionals" unless they had registered or re-registered.

I hope all the GOTV people will do a good analysis of what went wrong here. But, I know that in my polling place they got the "last votes to be counted." Along with anyone in today's mobile society who had to move because of job change, downsizing or whatever.

Your team would do our cause a great service by tracking the GOTV and recruits and "PB's."
