Where are the resignations?
I would expect nearly all senior Democratic PArty officials to resign immediately.

In Japan, they would have to kill themselves.

2. Completely agree
When you lose control of the Congress and the Presidency, and have suffered your third straight loss in national elections, it's time to resign. I think Terry should lead the pack. He needs to resign today.

4. LOL
Lots of black humor here today and I'm loving it.

When you emotionally invest yourself so deeply in a campaign, you have to laugh or cry.

7. There will definately be a shakeup
in the democratic party after this election. Bush was one of the most vulnerable candidates EVER. Surplus into deficit, Iraq, saying he didn't really care where Osama was, it can't get much worse than that. To tell you the truth, we did a horrible job of presenting a focused point of view. If Kerry had ever said I don't really care where Osama is, he wouldn't have stood a chance. Obviously, we have a bit to learn from the repub spin machine. As much as I hate them, they are great at spinning a negative into a positive.

8. whether the magnitude of repuke fraud
was 5%, 10% or 20%, that is the way the game is played now. Those are the new rules.

If the Dems and their "leadership" are unable to compete, they need to get the hell out of the way or just join the repukes.

11. Tell me about it
Can you imagine the reaction to President Al Gore reading a schoolbook while the WTC was attacked? Then letting Osama get away? Then starting an unjustified war in Iraq? Good God, he'd be lucky to get 10% of the popular vote!

17. this country is just WRONG right now
it truly is as though a huge part of the country is no longer "reality based"

truth doesn't matter

right and wrong don't matter

the facts don't matter

we have a major catastrophe coming and we are in no position to pull together to survive it.

10. Terry announced months ago
that he'd be stepping down after the election. He wants more time with his family.

14. excellent.
thanks. I didn't know that. I DO wish him well with his family. He seems very nice and he's great at fundraising. But he has not been an effective leader.

12. What gets me
Okay can we now lose the DLC control of the Democrats? And all of the let's go to the center and act like Repub lite brand of campaigning? And can we dispel the myth that the DLC got Clinton elected? Clinton got Clinton elected and the DLC rode to power on his coat tails.

Most of the party leaders have to go. They have lost the WH twice, increased the losses in the House and Senate, etc. Failure should not be rewarded.

I like to see and get involved with some grassroots rebuilding the party local (here in Boston) and nationally.

15. And we need to start supporting candidates all down the line!
I got 38.1% of the vote in my district, getting more then the guy they had as the targeted race! And I had no money, nor was I a well known person. Imagine what would have happened if I had more support from the party! I am so tired of party leadership only helping those they think can win. We need to run people in every race and support them all. We need to start working with the grassroots long before there is even a race to think about! Grrr!

16. yup
grassroots

plus the national infrastructure. Think tanks, media networks, permanent campaign mode, progressive talking heads, progressive political training, daily talking points.

a coalition a la the Repuke coalition of religious zealots and gun nuts--say environmentalists and civil libertarians.

a very focused agenda, 2 or 3 "wedge" issues.

and the willingness to lie, cheat, steal and murder in order to secure power.

this takes lots of money. got some?
