DES MOINES, IA: Iowa State Representative Wayne Ford endorsed John Edwards for President today at a rally to kick off the "Five Days to Change America" tour across Iowa. Ford joins thousand of Iowans who believe John Edwards is best candidate to beat George Bush in 2004.

"I'm happy about my endorsement of Senator Edwards," Ford said. "I truly believe he's a man in the spirit of Martin Luther King, a man who would risk everything for the rights of all of us. He has conducted a positive campaign. I truly believe he's the man for the job."

1. I'm glad to see Edwards is finally gaining traction
He's a genuinely nice man and wants to do the right thing rather than what's politically expedient.

2. If we had a fair press. Kerry and Edwards would be leading this race
and Dennis Kucinich would be right up there with them.

5. Excellent endorsement!

Ford, who was elected to the Iowa House of Reprsentatives in 1996, is the longest-serving minority member of the state legislature.

"Representative Ford and I - with the help of Iowans all over this state - are going to change America." Edwards said. "I am so proud to have Wayne's endorsement. He is a leader not just for his constituents, but for the state of Iowa, and I know he'll be a great addition to our team."

Ford's support comes on the heels of the Des Moines Register's endorsement of Edwards for President on Sunday. Ford joins a growing list of key endorsements that includes Linn County Democratic Party Chair Joel Miller; State Senator Keith Kreiman; State Representatives Dennis Co

6. Congratulations.
Edwards isn't my first choice, but I saw him do an interview on Hardball (of all places) yesterday and his honesty and eloquence really affected me. He's definitely got 'something' and wants me to have a bit o'that something as well.

I'm really starting to look at him more and would be very happy to support him in the GE.

8. No I mean Edwards got an endorsement.
If people did not like Edwards he would not be getting these good endorsements.

16. Yeah, don't people know that those votes were more important than, oh, say
taking on the corporate hegemony in America, or instituting a tax code in America that isn't going to further polarize the wealthy and the poor and destroy the middle class.

Wouldn't people rather have a candidate soft on those two issues -- a candidate with NO sensible tax plan and who is willing to give away the wealth of America to private companies and wealthy individuals if it balances the budget?

15. "I'm HAPPY for my endorsement of " Edwards. Me TOO! It makes me happy
to be a supporter of Edwards.

Win or lose, I have enjoyed following his campaign, listening and watching him, and making arguments for him.

I have REALLY enjoyed it, more than I have for any candidate ever.
