My thoughts on the election...
Please feel free to comment:

1. It's sad and it speaks to the condition of journalism in this country when you can get more honest analyses and news from a comedian (Jon Stewart) than from journalists;

2. When discussing issues such as abortion, stem cell research and the misnomer "partial birth abortion", it would be nice if the people against these issues actually had some basic scientific knowledge (I'd accept someone who was against them on moral grounds if s/he had at least the basic scientific concepts down);

3. It is sad to see that being an intellectual, once the pride of Presidents, is now considered to be elitist and "uppity", while being barely coherent is considered folksy;

4. It is frightening that many people have no qualms about the mixing of church and state, but only if the religious beliefs are like their own;

5. It is sad that a person in Podunk, North Dakota, cites terrorism as the number 1 issue, when there's no chance in hell a terrorist would even think of striking in Podunk, while the citizens of New York City proportionally get fewer federal funds than North Dakotans;

6. It is frightening that even to this day a lot of people believe invading a nation based on "faulty intelligence" and, in the process, losing the lives of several service members is a good idea;

7. It is even more frightening that the President, whose motto once was "The Buck Stops Here" blames everyone (from the intelligence to the troops) when facts and reality do not match up to his perceptions;

8. It is amazing to see so much energy and unity in the Democratic party and among those Republicans who have seen their party hijacked by crazy neo-conservatives and religious fanatics;

9. It is sad to think that this nation, once seen as a beacon for other nations, is now a pariah, not for her people, but for her administration and administrators, solely because of their unwillingness to work as a team to better the planet that we all must share;

10. It is very sad to think that there are so many people who work multiple jobs making barely a minimum wage, with few or no benefits, just trying to make it the next day, while there are people who do not have a problem purchasing $25,000 umbrella stands while raiding their employees' pension funds, while Martha Stewart is in jail.

These are a few of my thoughts. I cannot vote as I am not a citizen. However, I do pay taxes and I volunteered my time for the Kerry/Edwards campaign. If I could vote, I'd be a Democrat. And I am confident that tomorrow I can be proud once again to pay taxes to an administration that, I believe, will carry out its mission in the best interest of its people, not a small zealous group of fanatics.

Have a good night and support John Kerry/John Edwards.

1. You have excellent points - save this somewhere
everyone here is not focusing well until after tomorrow and probably for the next couple of days. I wish you could vote, but your hopes and prayers will help!

3. Good points - I read them all.
I rarely read long threads but this one was worth it. BTW, more that "several" service men lost their lives based on the faulty intelligence and lies.
