Well hey, at least Bush spared no expense and no effort at hunting him down so he can say he did his best. I imagine this would have looked pretty bad for the president if he had instead, just for example, declared just a few months after 9/11 that he wasn't really worried about the guy responsible for it and proceeded to simultaneously alienate American allies around the world and tie up the military forces and resources that *could* have been hunting down Osama in a pre-emptive voluntary invasion of another country that had nothing to do with Al Qaeda. Boy, that would have been horrible.

Oh wait, nevermind. Excuse me while I go bang my head against my desk for a while...
