Probably old news by now, Plain Dealer No Endorsement
In Cleveland, OHIO,

The PD will sit out. No endorsement because editorial board and the main bulisher clashed. He liked Bush and refused to allow Kerry endorsement.

In a year of deep political divisions, this newspaper's opinion section is experienc ing deep divisions of its own.

After nearly four years spent watching George W. Bush as president, and after a year of watching Sen. John Kerry campaign to oust him, we have decided not to add one more potentially polarizing voice to a poisoned debate. We make no endorsement for president this year.
<snip>

We believe our readers are perfectly capable of judging that conduct for themselves and deciding whether Bush's flaws bother them more than Kerry's ambiguities.

The decision not to endorse in this race was not easily taken. A majority of the editorial board favored Kerry, but after long and difficult deliberations, it was decided that the better path would be to sit this one out.

Good to see some real journalists with integrity are still out there.

5. Publisher forced Seattle Times to endorse bush in 2000
The editorial board wanted to endorse Gore, publisher Frank Blethen made them endorse shrub.

The good news is the Times endorsed Kerry in 2004, but they also endorsed repuke mouthbreather Dino Rossi for governor.

7. Blethens are typical selfish republicans
The Times ran full page ads supporting repeal of "death tax" prior to the 200 election.

Slime. Have been a PI subscriber ever since, they've actually been pretty good, all things considered.

9. CPD..
I read their full explanation, and it sure seemed like someone there was trying to get in a few more jabs at Kerry than at Bush.

Either that or maybe I'm just overly sensative to continuous bogus allegations? :shrug:

In any event.. it sure could've been worse and I'm glad they backed off from endorsing Bush! Who knows? Maybe our e-mails and letters helped some? :) (ya never know!)
