1. I hate to be a pessimist, but I won't be a naive optimist. I'm a foggymist
I'm the first "don't know" vote. I'm sure that if the people decide, we'll win with a few votes to spare. That said, I can't promise you that the people's decision will stand at the end of the day. It might. Not all Republicans are crooks or willing to cheat to win.

But a majority would probably not raise too big a stink if a few did cheat and if that cheating then made a difference. If Bush can lock down Florida and spook Ohio into ignoring what he's done to the job market up there, he could easily end up at 270 EC votes. They're keeping their game faces on--and so will I. But in the end, we can't know that they don't have something up Rove's sleeve.

I'm glad we got a lot of trial lawyers on our side. That may end up making the difference when the new president is elected in late December.

2. Realism can be pessimistic, however
we are all operating in the unknown right now. The polls are clearly irrelevent; they either are screwy or show a dead heat across the board. Margin of Error has become the most commonly heard description of the results.

Me, I look at the reports about how many states are showing huge new registrations and how many states with early voting are showing lines down the block and I just know most of these folk are ABB or pro-Kerry or just sane.

I've been involved with politics for forty years and frankly, I think its over.

Crawford gets its idiot back on November 2.

3. That's the same way I feel about it as well.
I think the media is spinning so hard right now because they don't want to lose the huge ratings they will get on Election Night, after all November is a sweeps month.

Maybe I feel so confident about Kerry/Edwards winning because I live in Illinois and the Land of Lincoln is a definite lock for them. As for Obama, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get 60% plus of the votes here.

I agree, the moving vans will be in DC shortly.
