10. Here is a list of all the 2000 Presidential Endorsements
Seems like its shaping up same this year, atleast so far.

Exception Denver Post endorsed Gore in 2000, and now Bush in 2004

27. NOOOOO! Was_Immer, the Denver Post has not endorsed Bush...
They have yet to endorse anyone, but will very likely go with Kerry. The Rocky Mountain News endorsed Bush, but this is no surprise--they've always leaned right.

The DP just endorsed Salizar (dem) over Coors-- that's a good sign they will go with Kerry.

9. There's an explanation for that.
Just came across this article from Online Journal: http://www.onlinejournal.com/Media/021104Hasty/021104hasty.html. It describes how the WP has financial ties with the Bush family.

So, for example, while the Washington Post editorial page endorses the Democratic candidate for president one day every four years, in keeping with its "liberal" tradition, the rest of the time it can spend on the front page advancing the agenda of what George W's role model Winston Churchill called "the high cabal" that oversees the interests of Wall Street and the national security state—which are generally Republican. But of course the Post, the inside-the-beltway national newspaper of record, will endorse the ideas of whichever party the Graham family and its retainers feel will best advance the unique political and financial goals of their own shape-shifting ruling-class faction.

and that's the only reason i can see for them endorsing kerry. but i will say that i wont be surprised at all if they endorse bush. even if they endorse kerry it does not make up for their whoring.

13. I say Kerry
in a not-so-enthusiastic endorsement. I read a recent editorial there about health care, and while they bashed both plans, they liked Kerry's plan more.

17. I've been reading the Post since I was nine...
They'll endorse Kerry but I expect it to be all tepid, tempered with enough finger wagging at both sides to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I certainly don't forsee a hard hitting NYTimes style piece. I would however like to be bowled over and pleasantly surprised...I would like them to call George Bush what he is incompetent, arrogant, shallow and hey while I'm at it, deceitful.

26. Got to be Kerry
They may whore articles for the Administration but they know when it comes down to ediorial policy they would lose all credibility if they came out for Bush. And has been pointed out here they endorsed Gore in 2000.

29. i think theyll try to not endorse either one
though if anything decent comes to light (not likely i know), then they will hide under that to endorse kerry

for example, if they can get away with basing it on something like the flu vaccine or other like topic, i think theyll go kerry
but again, if nothing too much happens i think theyll try to avoid it altogether and take an "unprecedented" non stand

30. Kerry, big time
They've written many opeds aftern being hoodwinked by Bush over WMD that call him out on that. They will endorse Kerry, for sure, because Bush lied to them and made them look stupid.

32. Kerry
This is the newspaper that broke Watergate. For the same newspaper to now endorse Bush after the WMD lie would mean Washington Post has headed into Bizarro World. In spite of some articles, etc. I've read, there's been a number of editorials very critical over Bush's lies, especially regarding Iraq. I expect a very ringing endorsement of Kerry and at least a bit of a condemnation of Bush.

33. i think Bush was smirking
because it's supposed to be a liberal paper Kerry quoted ( I dispute that)...we already have the Washington Times...let them endorse him. Despite TWP's creep towards the right since Katherine Graham died, I would be surprised given Bush's abyssmal record and not to put a fine point on it---according to the two family members I know over there--it would be a suicide move based on their circulation trends and current demographics...

34. I said it weeks ago: Chimp. Why? Easy.
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 05:44 PM by John_H
Whores, especially whores who believe their paper is something more impressive than an average mid-sized city rag, do not admit mistakes, let alone horrific mistakes in judgement.

There is no way the Washington Post is going to conceed that their heads, which have been up Chimp's ass for three and 2/3 years, now smell like shit. Sure, the endorsement will be qualified by "grave reservations" about Chimpie's domestic policies, but they will come to the "conclusion" that he was a)right to remove Saddam and b)is waging an "effective war on terra" which is the countries top priority(and which makes them and their parent company so much money).
