tactics.
Toward the end of a campaign, it's important to start pointing out your opponent's troubles and insecurities. It gets in the heads of the voters, wins over undecideds, boosts morale for your troops and hurts the morale of your opponents. It's declaring victory without really coming out and saying it. "Look...Bush is trembling!" And it's just a great psyche-out.
I think Kerry oughta start pointing out the desperate rhetoric that the Bush campaign is using, maybe relate it back to Poppy Bush's experience before Clinton kicked him out of the White House. It's a perfect innoculation against the rhetoric itself, too- the harsher Bush gets, the more desperate he looks.
Maybe start talking about how this is not a good position for a sitting President to be in, either. If Kerry was going to lose, it should have been obvious by now (although that's not a good way to put it).
