15. I know what you mean regarding his face.
He looks so stupid that, if not for his family connections, his career options would probably be limited to flipping burgers at McD's.

The sad thing is that honest Americans currently flipping burgers would undoubtedly have much better jobs, but for W's policies. Those people work real hard doing hard work -- unlike Shrub.

37. He probably borrowed some Xanax from Laura!

A friend in Washington insists Laura Bush is a druggie, strung out on Xanax (an anti-depressant) most of the time. Her pop-eyed, glazed demeanor suggests that something is going on in the belfrey. I'll bet Laura slipped Georgie a couple 'ludes or Xanax to take the edge off and he was frothin' at the mouth by the time he hit the stage!

47. Xanax is a tranquilizer, not an antidepressant
It's closely related chemically to Valium. In larger doses the effect would be similar to being drunk.

21. I disagree...
That wasn't an EXCESS of spittle, it was cotton mouth. I think he was just nervous.

You don't get spit like that in the corner of your mouth when you have excess spit... it was that awful, dry mouth, pasty spit.

23. Hmmm
Doesn't nervousness lead to dry mouth?

I took propranolol years ago and was specifically warned by doc to be careful that I didn't accidentally spit on people while speaking. The drug did cause excessive salivation -- and made it difficult for me to follow conversations.

Ah, we are all entitled to our theories, but I think they gave him performance anxiety med.

That tells us something, in and of itself. He's lost all self-confidence. He's running scared.

56. I take it
My nerves take over and I can't present well when I have to do large professional presentations. It is amazing...you feel no other effect except that you just don't have the heart racing fear that might make you go too fast or miss some points.

No spit though. If anything, I get dry mouth.

29. propanolol is an on-label, commonly prescribed treatment
for anxiety, especially that which is related to certain situations, such as public speaking or exams. It prevents tremor, excessive sweating and palpitations, or the outward physical symptoms of anxiousness, but it does not treat the psychological component. However, the physical symptoms of anxiety lead to a hightened awareness of ones emotional state. So lessening that, not only gives the appearance outwardly of a non-nervous state, but helps to calm the irrational fears associated with such manifestations.

like archery and shooting because it keeps the hands from shaking. I wonder if they would risk giving it to him however with a resting heart rate of 45. It wouldn't do to have him keel over at the podium.
