The Joe Lockhart Appreciation Thread
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 05:19 PM by cryingshame
Now I was familiar with him from Crossfire where he always seemed to be more of a backbone Democrat then many other Dem spokespeople they have on.

Just heard him on Olberman. He is very smooth and has a great "Everyman Charisma" that reminds me of Dick Durbin.

Just wanted to do a quick appreciation thread for him. I think he helped Kerry tighten his message right when it got critical.

2. Lockhart
I'm a huge Lockhart fan, ever since he was the Press Secretary defending Impeachment!

The Clinton folks should have been on board a long time ago, but thank God for all of us they're on board now - - when it counts!

3. they have both
Lockhart and McCurry on board. The campaign took off once the Clinton people came on board.

4. I agree
They are much better at spin and damage control than others have been. They had 8 years of dealing with these people, it's no wonder they're doing so well. I was very relieved when they came onboard.

Although, did you know Kerry was actually AHEAD in most of the polls in August? The campaign was fine then, we just couldn't get our message out. Lockhart & McCurry know the press and I do think that's making the difference in getting our message out.

I'll lock for a pix of him on the web too.

Here we go... not the most flatteringly... but he's got the understated charisma too.

10. Kerry didn't have the money in August..
He had to take the fed 75 million at the end of July whereas Bush continued to raise and use money until the end of August when he too had to take the Fed money..Bush has a month extra because of conventions, and that is why Kerry was so hurt in August..It is hard to respond to the Swift Boat Liars when you are worried about going broke

7. I Loved Mike McCurry , but
Joe was much more combative with the media during the Republican failed coup . I think a lot of the sharpening of the Kerry message is attributable to the arrival of the Clintonistas , which totally blows the kooky RW theory that Bill and Hil would do anything to sink JFK . Thanks Joe , you are doing a great job as is McCurry .

9. Ha! They thought they would sink Joe along with Dan Rather!
Well, it didn't work. Joe got right out there and told the truth...rethugs hate when that happens.

12. And guess what? They didn't sink Dan Rather, either!
At least, not yet! And he's still getting some hard-edged reporting on his news show.

18. yeah, super smart
It comes through loud and clear--you can see his mind working at a very fast click through his eyes. Then when he speaks, he's very confident and consequently, quite believable.

He doesn't mince his words, that's for sure!

Cher

20. He's fantastic, and even more vital after the last debate
Three full weeks we'll have to fade until November 2. The commercials and the claims will be more vicious than anything we've seen. The advocates like Lockhart and Tad Devine will be crucial, along with Kerry sharpening his sound bytes as he is starting to do.
