Osama Claims Responsibility (Once Again) For The 9/11 Attack
Hang your "fat Osama" arguments out to dry, folks. Osama's made an election year appearance and he claims responsibility for the 9/11 attacks.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/29/international/29WIRE-TRANS.html?oref=login

"As I watched the destroyed towers in Lebanon, it occurred to me punish the unjust the same way (and) to destroy towers in America so it could taste some of what we are tasting and to stop killing our children and women.

"We had no difficulty in dealing with Bush and his administration because they resemble the regimes in our countries, half of which are ruled by the military and the other half by the sons of kings ... They have a lot of pride, arrogance, greed and thievery.

"He (Bush) adopted despotism and the crushing of freedoms from Arab rulers and called it the Patriot Act under the guise of combating terrorism.....

"We had agreed with the (the Sept. 11) overall commander Mohammed Atta, may God rest his soul, to carry out all operations in 20 minutes before Bush and his administration take notice.

"It never occurred to us that the commander in chief of the American forces (Bush) would leave 50,000 citizens in the two towers to face those horrors alone at a time when they most needed him because he thought listening to a child discussing her goat and its ramming was more important than the planes and their ramming of the skyscrapers. This had given us three times the time needed to carry out the operations, thanks be to God...

So there you have. Al-Qaeda carried out the attacks, and Bush's incompetence and negligence allowed the attacks to be successful beyond Osama's dreams. Osama said so.

How convenient he comes out now, and again claims responsibility to
the attacks, is this a Karl Rove blunder, or a CIA wonder?

8. Osama the hypocrite
Keep runnin Bolo.......

Today your beloved Osama said the following..........

"The regimes in our (Arab)countries, half of which are ruled by the military and the other half by the sons of kings ... They have a lot of pride, arrogance, greed and thievery."

But this never stopped Osama from doing the following....

Representatives of the Saudi royal family met secretly with Osama bin Laden in an effort to strike a deal to protect their kingdom. Bin Laden agreed not to use his operatives to subvert the Saudi royal family

The first meeting between the princes, Saudi businessmen and al-Qaeda representatives was held in Paris during the fall of 1996. The second meeting, attended by Prince Turki al Faisal al-Saud - then chief of Saudi intelligence

http://www.jinsa.org/articles/view.html?documentid=1729

Funny how your darlin Osama always forgets to mention the above....

And if you dont believe me.......

Care to mention any House Of Saud (or Bush administration) officials that Al-quida have killed........ever............

Come on' Bolo......

Any answers?

You obviously know nothing about Saudi Arabia and it's mercurial history.....

Tell you what, LARED....

Google the name Faysal Bin-Abd-al-Aziz Al Sa'ud.....this was the king of Saudi Arabia.....from 1964 until 1975.......

Google his name and find out how he met his demise.......

And then ask yourself......

How sure you are ..... that if Bin Laden had killed or attempted to kill a member of the House Of Saud....we would not have heard about it..... either from Bin Laden himself....or someone else.....

81. No
You know aswell as I do that Al-Quiada has not attacked or attempted to attack(so far) the House Of Saud...........

The 2 bomb attacks in Saudi Arabia last year ,managed to kill mostly Arabs....and a handful of Americans.....

But the House Of Saud remained unscathed and untouched.

And in response to these bomb attacks, the House Of Saud cracked down even harder on ordinary Saudis!

And how 'bout this......

Has Al-Quida killed any Neo-cons or other members of the Bush administration........

Even on 9/11 itself.....

Ziad Jarrah and Hani Hanjour prefered to fly ua93 and aa77 to Camp David or the White House and the Pentagon respectively....

When it was public knowledge that the President was in Florida!

Bin Laden keeps on sayin' that The Bush administration,The House Of Saud and The Zionists are his enemy.....

But none of the above have so far been directly hit by Bin Laden and his group.......

In fact all 3 seem to be more powerful than ever as a result of Bin Laden's actions.....

10. Who was watching (Flt 77) in those 45 minutes?
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 01:10 PM by jmcgowanjm
Meanwhile Flight 77 was turning around, streaking back
east over Virginia toward the White House and finally
slamming into the Pentagon at 9:45 a.m.

Who was watching in those 45 minutes?

"That's a question that more and more people are going to
ask,'' said one controller in Miami. "What the hell went on
here? Was anyone doing anything about it? Just as a
national defense thing, how are they able to fly around and
no one go after them?''

Even with the transponder silent, the plane should have
been visible on radar, both to controllers who
handle cross-continent air traffic and to a FAA command center outside of
Washington, according to air traffic
controllers. (And to NORAD)

The FAA, which handles air traffic control, would not discuss
the track of Flight 77 or what happened in air-control
centers while it was in flight. Neither would American
Airlines.

(As 0f 103004 either FAA and/or NORAD is lying.)

16. Sometimes goats have to die
Reviewer: A reader (Greenville, NC United States)
I like goats. It's like my daddy always said, a goat in the pocket is a goat in the hole. If goats were money, I'd have a million of them (and give some to my friends too!). I remember goats are animals. They are not part of the axis of evil, but because I'm so compassionate, I sometimes still want to kill them.

Satire
is when an article from the Journal of Irreproducible Results
http://winn.com/bs/atombomb.html
becomes FRONT PAGE NEWS.

More recently, the US confirmed documents found in a building in Kabul believed to have been used as a safe house by al-Qaeda fighters contained instructions on how to build a nuclear device
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/1679952.stm

GOVERNOR RIDGE: Well, one of the challenges as we have faced a bioterrorist threat over the past four or five weeks is the notion that our responsibility as a country is to be prepared for biological and chemical and radiological and nuclear. And the mission of providing homeland security is to enhance our capacity to detect, prevent and even respond to those kinds of events.
And I would say the fact that we have discovered that one of the safe houses that bin Laden's associates or al Qaeda had some materials relative to a nuclear threat is certainly consistent with his statements that he would like to acquire that capacity. It is not to say, it does not confirm that he has the capacity, it just says that whether it's bin Laden or some other potential foe of this country, we have to be prepared for all eventualities, including a nuclear threat.

"My Pet Goat," the story at the physical and spiritual center of this collection of stories for the emerging semiotician, is at once more and less than the sum of its parts. When the narrator talks about the goat's propensity to eat anything in sight -- hats, capes, even voting records -- the narrator embodies the spirit of the proud pet owner, willing to tolerate, even brag, about their pet's foibles. Yet when the goat -- at once both the story's protagonist and antagonist -- successfully wards off a car thief considered an imminent threat by the narrator's avuncular, somewhat secretive father figure, one is left to wonder: Do the ends justify the means? Do they ever?
I rarely delve into the realm of the personal in my reviews, but here I must make an exception. When I read this work for the first time, the muscular prose and its powerful import rendered me dumbstruck for minutes -- seven of them, to be precise. But even after I regained my composure, I found my thoughts returning to this masterwork, only to discover that it had sparked in me a thirst for knowledge that no amount of brush clearing or pretzel consumption could quench. I am a changed person, and hopefully a better one, for having read My Pet Goat.

My Pet Goat is a masterpiece of strategic thought., July 17, 2004
Reviewer: oparts (New York, NY United States)
Destined to take their place alongside von Clausewitz and Sun Tzu, Engelmann and Bruner have captured the very essence of strategic thought in a mere 32 large-print pages. In this masterwork, when Smirky the Goat is stung on the nose by Osama the Wasp, he jumps over the fence and butts the living daylights of out Saddam the Swine. Advanced students will see the seeds of the Bush Doctrine in this landmark book.

Come on' rh

It is irrelevant when the hijackers bought their tickets.....

They were loaded with money......

They could have relocated back to Florida.....

And bought new tickets.......

And even if you stick with the original planes......

These guys were never going to Los Angeles or San Fransico...........from Boston, Washington and Newark respectively....

So......

Even though it was a greater distance for them to fly.....

What would have stopped Hani Hanjour from hijacking the plane and then flying it from Washington to Sarasota?

Come to think of it......

How about Atta and Al-Shehni from Boston to Sarasota....

Or Jarrah...from Newark to Sarasota....

For God's sake ....in the end....Hanjour managed to strike the Pentagon!

Yet a school (containing the President of the U.S) in Florida was beyond him?

I was refering to the 100.000$ man Mohammed Atta................

Buying new tickets for his chums and helpin' them relocate closer to Sarasota should not have been that difficult........

What more motivation was needed...........

The President was gonna be in town on 9/10 and 9/11!

And

Atta was in Sarasota on September 7th.......

The same day that it was publicly announced that the President would also visit Sarasota.

But no!

They still had to go and fly planes into 2 militarily insignificant towers,an abandoned mine field in Shanksville and a newly re-inforced wedge at the Pentagon....

All of this would really hurt the President of the U.S (who was nowhere near any of the above locations) and bring him to his knees.

What was Jarrah thinkin.......

Flyin a hijacked plane to hit the White House when the President is well and truly out of town.......

83. Of course It makes a difference.

Maybe Flight 93 was going to be taken to Florida.

How would you know that this was not the case?

If they want to hit Bush they have to be sure of when to arrive to do so while coordinating other attacks.

If it was so easy to change plan, maybe they changed the plan because it took off too late.

Would the Kudos of Osama Bin Laden be increased by targetting children in a School? It is impossible to make any sense of the thesis.

With nothing but your own imagination to fish from, with plain facts ignored, it is of course easy enough to catch whatever you please, to prove what you will to yourself. Is there otherwise any purpose to any of this?

84. Wrong.

rh asks.....
Would the Kudos of Osama Bin Laden be increased by targetting children in a School?

Answer:
"If those infidels are targeting muslims women, children and the ederly, then muslims can do the same"
Ramzi Binalshib(9/11 coordinator).
September 2001.

Also............

In the words of Mohammed Atta(to Ramzi Binalshib)
"The brothers have been seeing encouraging visions and dreams. The Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Capitol Hill."
August 2001.

According to Yosri Fouda(who interviewed Binalshib and Sheik Mohammed)
"It would have been Ziad al-Jarrah's mission to crash into Capitol Hill"

In the words of Ziad Jarrah(according to Ramzi Binalshib)
"My heart is at ease, and I feel that the operation will ,Inshallah,be a success"

All these exerpts can be found in the Masterminds Of Terror book.

No sign from either Binalshib or Sheik Mohammed that Florida was ever a target...........

So.......

You were sayin?

I dont know what really happened on 9/11.

But.....

I dont believe the stories told by Bin Laden,Binalshib and Sheik Mohammed anymore than I believe Bush and his little puppy called Blair...with regards to 9/11...........

So what do you believe really happened?

Is it the one about Atta the phychotic Arab agent working for U.S Intelligence to infiltrate and block Al-Quida's up-coming mission....

But who then stabs the U.S in the back by actually facilitating Al-Quida's operation through to its conclusion.......hence the cover up.....

There was a DUer called Objection who posted here for a while a few months back and then disappeared.......and he put forward the above scenario(or something to that effect)............

Well in that case Atta didn't make such a good job of it, did he?

I think that on 9/11 romance overtook reason. Hollywood movies are to blame. The need for everybody to upstage each other is contageous. The whole caboodle is phychotic, not just Atta.

It is too late to worry about the details.

You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last.

"The personality of Mohamed Atta raises doubt. A fanatical terrorist would have a track record, some sort of political or religious activism. With Atta we don't see that. I see a sexually confused thrill seeker with a chip on his shoulder, somebody who'd push to any limit just for the sake of it.

Off hand I'd guess that he wanted to be in on the action, any action going, possibly working as a double agent for both sides at once, except that he was jilted as being too much of a nut case. So then he pulled off 9/11 to give them something big to think about. Possibly he was somehow involved with 'Vigilant Guardian', hence an opportunity, hence the smell of cover up. Possibly 'Vigilant Guardian' involved a test of a home run remote system. Possibly the home run sustem was in turn hijacked. That would explain why home run systems are not since de riguer, notwithstanding the security imperative, but again it is unlikley to have been a grand conspiracy. Effective conspiracies involve a minimum of participants on a need to know basis, not a maximum.

The Maine excursion is problematic. If you can work out exactly what that was about you've probably got the key to it."

90. I'd go along with most of that,

except for Atta's visit to Afghanistan. How is that to be explained except in terms of activism? Does objection say anything about the poppy? Do you have a link? Afghanistan is all about the poppy, the most likely source of finance for the Atta type of adventure.

When reading anything about Atta I always get the feeling of large parts of the jigsaw completely missing, albeit that more would seem to be known about him than any of the others.

I dont know that an explanation of the "Maine excursion" would explain everything else but there again I do suspect that there is a tale to be told that has yet to be told.

97. I'd already had enough

long ago. It is impossible to go around and around forever without eventually getting dizzy or sick, so I resolved to have done. Then, disgusted when the 'Plane Sight' sensationalism cropped up I felt the irrestistable urge to set a few things straight; cant stand to see people innocently made fools of.

Objection's aggression cares not, but some valid points arise. I'd like see to see more on this theme:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=125x15200#15679

On the balance of probabilities it is unlikely that a home run system was ivolved with 9/11; if it were likely we'd hear a lot more about it from professionals who know more about it, the pilots and the boffins.

On the other hand if a home run system was not involved, then why not? The technological capability has been around for years.

91. Bush was going to be at the Penta-helipad
later that day.
At about 12 noon.

As I said, WE WERE EXPECTING pRESIDENT BUSH** ABOUT NOON, which would be a Code One Stand-By. In such situations, one of the problems I see at the heliport is that there are too many people there. Plus, there are too many vehicles, including Secret Service, Pentagon SWAT, U.S. Park Police, D.C. Cops on motorcycles, and the two Presidential Limousines. And, some of these vehicles even park in front of the fire station apparatus door, blocking the fire truck from exiting the building! That is why I wanted the crash truck out of the station and parked in a good location, for easy access to the heliport in case of an emergency.
http://w1.431.telia.com/~u43109230/flight77/texts/Wallace.txt

At least that was the reason the three stooges gave
for moving the firetruck into the direct line of fire
before it was set ablaze.

Just prior to the impact there were three firemen on the helipad at the Pentagon. The president was supposed to land at the helipad TWO HOURS AFTER THE IMPACT, and so they had just pulled the foam truck out of the firehouse and were standing there when they looked up and saw the plane coming over the Navy Annex building.

Seeing as this info was public knowledge,
we are lucky that
the villains did not simply wait until later that day to do their nasty deed.
The place would have been much more crowded
and the casualty number would have been very high.
But then again, Hani probably did not want Cheney to inherit the pResidency.

99. Because Hani,
the Worthless Son of a Goat-herder,
KNEW
how interested Bush is in stories

http://anderson.ath.cx:8000/911/pics/bookerclassroom.jpg

about goats.

Which is precisely the reason why Hani did NOT hijack a plane out of Florida,
where his friends had long been living
and smash it into that classroom.
Hani spared Bush out of professional courtesy.

http://anderson.ath.cx:8000/911/pics/bush.jpg

After all, both are "trained pilots"
with identical SAT verbal scores,
and the same exact world-view.

August 6, 2004
THE pRESIDENT: The mission is for the -- their mission is there to be a democratic Iraq, where they have elections to elect their government. ..... Obviously, there are people there that are still trying to disrupt the election process. They can't stand the thought of a free society in the midst of a part of the world that's just desperate for freedom. These people don't like freedom. You know why? Because it clashes with their ideology.

"We actually misnamed the war on terror, it ought to be the struggle against ideological extremists who do not believe in free societies who happen to use terror as a weapon to try to shake the conscience of the free world."

(Laughter.)
"No, that's what they do. They use terror to -- and they use it effectively, because we've got good hearts. We're people of conscience, they aren't. They will cut off a person's head like that, and not even care about it. That's why I tell you, you can't talk sense to them. Maybe some think you can, I don't. I don't think you can negotiate with them."
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/08/20040806-1.html

Hani understood perfectly
just how difficult it was to be involved in
"the struggle against ideological extremists
who do not believe in free societies who happen to use terror as a weapon
to try to shake the conscience of the free world."

And he, too, liked stories about goats.
So Hani contemplated crashing the plane into a place he KNEW TO BE EMPTY.
How did he know that the Wedge was empty?
They had been renovating it SINCE 1998.
Right after they finished renovating all those leased office buildings in nearby Rosslyn and Crystal City, Virginia,
that they moved the Penta-personnel into.
http://renovation.pentagon.mil/projects-SS.htm

Hani knew damn well
that nobody was home.
And THAT is probably why
N644AA was reported as having been destroyed on January 14, 2002
after an aborted take-off from Gilligan's airstrip.

13. Really convenient!
What a relief bin Laden jumps to support Bush's election campaign!

No, but seriously:
Talkling about UBL one should never forget that after 911 at first he denied the repsonsability of the attacks.
http://www.public-action.com/911/oblintrv.html
(Thanks ROH! :) )

And he didn't use the chance for a sign of victory and some propaganda.

Talking about the various interview tapes of him.
Just have a look at Paul Thompson's Timeline and you'll see that there is basically no interview where there ar no doubts concerning the authenticity. (I remember one case where the journalists even couldn't stop laughing while watching UBL).

And talking about UBL and his miracoulos escape from Afghanistan: This guy needs a kidney dialysis! How did he even physically manage to come to Pakistan??

Just for background info: Here some statements concerning UBL health (before 911):

"“Suspected Saudi terrorist Osama bin Laden is dying of kidney failure, according to a Western intelligence source who has been tracking him. Bin Laden's kidney disease has now begun to affect his liver, and close associates are trying to obtain a dialysis machine to stabilize his condition. Bin Laden, about 45, is holed up in a secret location in Afghanistan, and remains mostly conscious and, for now, is able to talk and hold meetings. But "the man is dying," the source says.”

“Osama bin Laden seemed weak and gaunt at a meeting about President Clinton's visit to Pakistan, a witness said, and a Western intelligence official said the alleged terrorist leader is suffering from kidney and liver disease.
Bin Laden has kidney failure and ''his liver is going,'' the official said, speaking on condition that neither he nor his nation be identified. He said bin Laden's followers were trying to find a kidney dialysis machine for their ailing leader. Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia, however, insist bin Laden is fine.
(…)
''He is very much weak. His face is very thin,'' said the man, who has close contacts with Afghanistan's ruling militia and accompanied a Taliban security officer to the meeting. (…)
Bin Laden, believed to be in his late 30s, coughed frequently and seemed to become easily exhausted, even while seated, said the man, who did not want his name used because of the potential danger. (...)
The only countries that recognize the Taliban's authority are Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates”.
(AP, 3/250O)

“Suspected Saudi Arabian terrorist Osama bin Laden, wanted in the bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa, is dying of kidney failure, the Hong Kong-based Asiaweek magazine reported Thursday.”
(dpa, 3/16/00)

And he was (CBS) in Peshawar on 910 for a kidney dialysis.
And there was one report before 911 from the Mossad that UBL is dead (but I acknowledge I don't find it on my harddisk. I'll look for it).

"It was Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf who said in public what many suspected: that bin Laden suffers from kidney disease, saying he thinks bin Laden may be near death."
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/01/28/eveningnews/main325887.shtml

Having all this said: Of course I don't know if it's UBL in the video. But what I know is that there enough reasons to be very sceptical.

Yes, OBL just admitted responsibility yet again. This time we got a healthy, svelte Osama so there are no "fat Osama" objections.

IT STILL DOESN'T MATTER! If facts mattered, these matters would have been resolved long ago. Face it, believing OBL is just a Bush stooge is no more difficult than believing in missile pods and holograms and fuel sprayers. OBL could be captured, admit to the WTC crashes, be identified by the Pope, Max Cleland, John Kerry and the corpse of Mother Teresa and somebody would STILL say it wasn't really him.

I forgive your momentary lapse but, really! I expected better from you!

22. Right
the thread is regarding Osama's guilt. You and others are claiming that a tape released 3 days before the election, by a known CIA asset, whose family has intimate ties to the Bush crime family as proof of guilt.

In one breath we find Osama having visions of the twin towers turning to dust and chopped up steel while sightseeing in Lebanon ,and stumping for John Kerry in the next.

Meanwhile at the http://antiwar.com/israelfiles2.html">scene of the crime ,and in the months before and after the crime hundreds of possible foreign agents are silently taken into custody, and released sporadically by John Ashcroft's FBI with all the delicacy of the Franklin investigation

42. Commence bashing Cronkite NOW
Martha's Vineyard retiree Walter Cronkite's assertion that a Bush administration operative is behind last week's Osama bin Laden video has inflamed conservatives but left plenty of liberals wondering.

``I'm a little inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing,'' Cronkite, 88, told CNN interviewer Larry King Friday night.
http://news.bostonherald.com/election/view.bg?articleid=51918

KING: OK, Walter. What do you make of this (the Bin Laden tape)?

CRONKITE: Well, I make it out to be initially the reaction that it's a threat to us, that unless we make peace with him, in a sense, we can expect further attacks. He did not say that precisely, but it sounds like that when he says...

KING: The warning.

CRONKITE: What we just heard. So now the question is basically right now, how will this affect the election? And I have a feeling that it could tilt the election a bit. In fact, I'm a little inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing. The advantage to the Republican side is to get rid of, as a principal subject of the campaigns right now, get rid of the whole problem of the al Qaqaa explosive dump. Right now, that, the last couple of days, has, I think, upset the Republican campaign.

...there's a small chance that Rove found a way to put Osama up to this.

That's not the same thing as saying Osama's a CIA agent and that Rove was running the camera.

Perhaps when Cronkite explains what he meant by that statement, we'll all know.

set that detector off twice and subsequently both are subjected to the hand search.......

Problem is Bolo..........

According to the video......

They are both subjected to a full-on hand search.......

From back to front and from up to down.

Here is Moqed:

And here is Al-Hazmi:

And even more importantly according to the video.......

There is no woman who distracts the guard whilst he subjects Moqed and Al-Hazmi to this full-on hand search.......

You will notice that there is a woman with a blue shirt to the left of the photo with Al-Hazmi........

But when you watch the video the guard carries on doing the full search before directing Al-Hazmi over to the counter for a bag inspection......

He does not "wave him on" as Mr Cannistaro says.....

Which takes us right back to square one..........

Cannistaro is lying.....or he watched a completely different video......

And Hani Hanjour is 2 people who go by the same name......

Does that mean they have HIGHER standards than us?
The idea that I heartily endorse that action -- if indeed it ever took place -- is freaking me out. You have succeeded in bringing about a meeting of the minds, Boloboffin.
We, of the Democratic Underground,
also do not appreciate your presence here, nor your persistent efforts "to educate their readers and counter their propaganda."

Oh, and speaking of questions that are yet to be answered,
MUSH.
SHOW ME THE MUSH.

ON EDIT:
WHEW
No Boloboffin,
you have not yet been banned from Blogs for Bush.

Not sure I agree with your math work there, Captain. The meals totalled $200 - they weren't two hundred apiece.
That works out to $10.50 a meal.

I KNEW that our standards are very very low on this particular forum,
but at least,
Blogs for Bush has standards that are every bit as unhigh.
Such is the world of coincidence.

Q. How did Blogs For Bush get started?
A. The idea for Blogs For Bush came about in August 2003.
After seeing various Bush/Cheney '04 themed blogs, Blogs For Bush owner, Matt, thought it would be a good idea to create a site to help organize all pro-Bush sites and make them accessible in one place on the internet. Building on that idea, it was decided Blogs For Bush would help visitors who wanted to help the campaign get the tools and information they needed.

Good evening!
Bolo Boffin here, welcoming you to a brand new blog. What an exciting time and way to be communicating! I'm usually over at the Smirking Chimp or Democratic Underground (username: boloboffin - you never could have guessed), so now you know the basic style of my politics. I hope that I can talk about more things than politics, though. Now I'm off to figure out how to put URLs into these posts. Wish me luck!

Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 10:20 PM by boloboffin
So convinced that s/he has put all the facts together.

But Dulce doesn't have all the facts.

Yes, I was banned back in February or so. But then Blogs4Bush changed their comment verification process and I discovered that I could again post there.

The quoted comment went through in August 2004. It's in reference to a story where the Kerry campaign bus had stopped at a local Wendy's for a lunch photo-op (Ben Affleck was travelling with them, I recall). Someone discovered that another lunch had been prepared for the Kerry party, a selection of nineteen gourmet meals that were taken to the bus for after the "lunch" photo op.

The original post (which you read, you must have, because you quoted my comment there so diligently) said that the meals were $200. Since there were nineteen meals, the referenced "Cap'n" - umm, Cap'n Mike, I believe - had dimwittedly raked the Kerry people over the coals for fooling the hoi polloi and then eating meals that totalled an amazing $3800! My little dig at Cap'n Mike managed to get by the fascists at B4B, but I tried posting again last week and found that a "review of new comments" was in play.

Ah, well.

I've since been banned again. I don't know how you came to be so well acquainted with B4B comments, but anybody is free to search - they'll only find that comment and maybe one or two more (quite critical of Bush as I've always been) before the first banning in February or so. I even preserved that first banning at my blog, I was so proud. Wait, it might have been later, it had something to do with...Christmas? Hmmm. Have to go check that out...

I am who I say I am.

I had no idea that B4B started in the same month I started my blog. I've been boloboffin online since October of 2001. That's when I signed up at the Smirking Chimp, and I started posting here at DU in earnest in September 2002.

Question: what do you think my blog starting during the same month as B4B proves, Dulce?

Here's a road we've been down before: if the moderators of the Democratic Underground wished to ban me from here, they could do it. They don't. So your statement that "We, of the Democratic Underground" is again completely false. So as wonderful as it is to hear how much you hate me, why don't you try keeping it to yourself. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know how much you hate me, how much you really really hate me. And giving me a warm fuzzy feeling can't be on the top of your to-do list...

Now then I felt like responding to that post. I'm willing to leave it and yours intact, Dulce. But I believe that I can point to this post of yours as proof that you're stalking me online. So be careful from now on, Dulce. What would life be without our little exchanges?

But while we've digressed to Bolo trivia, tell me: do you know that I started a blog way before Bolo Boffin? I wonder if you can find it - it's still out there...you have all the information on me you need. And it's way back before B4B was a twinkle in Matt Margolis's eye...

And I've been posting since August 2004? I had a one year anniversary in blogging and didn't even notice?? That's awful.

On Second Edit: I'm continuing the gratutious plugging. I actually got banned from B4B in April of 2004. Here's my post on it:

http://boloboffin.blogspot.com/2004_04_04_boloboffin_archive.html#108161405462446407

What We Have Here Is Failure To Communicate

I should have seen this one coming.

A couple of weeks ago, a comment of mine was deleted at Blogs For Bush. Some commenter was allowing how the Democrats had brought down Trent Lott, and I hastened to correct him - the knife in Trent Lott's back had the White House's fingerprints all over it. So snip, snip, snip went the B4B scissors.

Today I see that an poster has highlighted Kerrey's canard that Clinton didn't respond to the Cole bombing in October 2000. I typed up a witty response and hit "Submit". Here's what I got back:

Their loss.

So found my first blog yet, Dulce? Hint - search with my real name and the word "Pledge".

Boloboffin says:
But Dulce doesn't have all the facts.
TRUE: My regards to Matt Margolis.
I understand his contract has just been extended for
FOUR MORE YEARS.

Now, what were we discussing....
oh yes,
the fake Osama.
Would you care to comment on
Azzam the American from the US Department of Justice?

With a little make-up
and some of that wonderful hair-spray
perhaps he could pass for Osama.
After all,
"Hani Hanjour" managed to pass for Hani Hanjour
numerous times.

The fact that Azzam the American,
is representin'
militant Saudi Islamist terrorists
means that even those guys are
NOT as anti-semitic as we have been led to believe.

If this were not so,
they would have long ago denounced Adam Pearlman
as a Jewish-American spy
and they would have killed him.
Instead,
they have chosen him to be their spokesman.
HOW GOD-DAMN LIBERAL IS THAT!!!!

There was lingering reason for skepticism last night. For one thing, never before has the terror network released its videos in English.
<snip>
The tape included a simultaneous Arabic translation, which takes some work, and there's even a news-ticker "crawl" on the screen that would be familiar to viewers of Fox and CNN.
http://www.nynewsday.com/news/local/newyork/columnists/ny-nyhen294022619oct29,0,7518434.column?coll=ny-ny-columnists

WOW.
Azzam the American is a MARKETING GENIUS.
He speaks in ENGLISH, with ARABIC subtitles.
Azzam is really reaching out
to embarrass -- I mean EMBRACE --
the English-speaking world.

He is the Ari Fleischer of the terrorist world,
and he too,
deserves to be laughed out of office.
EXCEPT
for one glaring fact:
IT IS NOT FUNNY.

According to a U.S. official, the tape is being shown to detainees to help identify the speaker.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,136937,00.html

The blood of hundreds of detainees
is slowly staining the sands of Guantanamo Bay
and the floors of Abu Ghraib
while skulls adorn the landscape around Sheberghan prison
all thanks
to the comrades of Azzam the American.

30. hijacking the "hijackers"
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 11:58 AM by demodewd
The fact that the person on this video who I believe to be OBL admits to the plotting of the 9-11 attacks doesn't dismiss the distinct possibility that whatever plotting may have gone on within Arab terrorist cells was upstaged by a sophisticated hijacking of the "hijackers" by elements within our own government.

One needs go no further than the oppressively procedings of the 9-11 Commission to understand the level of administrative control there was at this travesty of justice. If you are to accuse OBL of the crime you hold a legitimate criminal trial into the matter. You bring legitmate evidence to the Commission that absolutely proves his guilt in a court of law!!

But we were informed that OBL was accountable for the crimes hours after the incident. Don't you find that a bit suspicious? You don't?

32. you are naive
OBL saying he was involved or wasn't involved doesn't contradict my opinion. If there were "hijackers" they were used as patsies. OBL is either a patsy or a CIA asset. I'm inclined to think the latter but it makes no difference.

The 9-11 cOmission was anti democratic from the start. And those chosen for the panel were hand picked by the Administartion. No independence there. They committed absolutely gross omissions and falsified the time line. It was essentially a gross ego stroke for all involved. Its essential motive was to curtail independent inquiry, limit the scope of questioning, and start with the autocratic edict that Bin Laden and the identified hijackers as established by the FBI are guilty. If you support this kind of circus then you do not support legitimate legal inquiry and don't really support democratic institutions such as the judicial system.

You are naive and apparently don't appreciate legitimate intellectual inquiry and legitimate judicial inquiry.

37. Anti-democratic?????????????????????
What does that mean?

Was the panel supposed to vote on the facts? It was a bi-partisan panel. Made up from both sides of the political spectrum.

Also I do very much appreciate legitimate intellectual inquiry and legitimate judicial inquiry.

But neither of those were tasks the 9-11 commision was created to take on. The commison was chartered to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. The Commission is also mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.

"Cleland attacked his own commission after the other members cut a deal to accept highly limited access to CIA reports to the White House that may indicate advance knowledge of the attacks on the part of the Bush administration. "This is a scam," Cleland said. "It's disgusting. America is being cheated."

102. Carl Schwartz´ letter to Bush
Very interesting is the Demand Letter that Carl Schwartz sent to Bush, Kerry and DNC , September 30, 2004 demanding answers from Bush on 30 items that are glaring lies and cover ups of his Administration:

The first five items :

"Mr. President,

(...)

1. I demand as an American citizen that you lift the "gag order" on Sibel D. Edmonds and let Americans know what foreign names and what AMERICAN NAMES she uncovered in her FBI translations that were involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and the financing of 9-11. Her facts and your "official story" lies do not add up. Americans demand the truth on that matter before the election.

2. I demand to know what energy companies were in that Cheney Energy Task Force meeting and what discussions there were as to the steps that would be taken to remove the Taliban and Bridas Corporation as the last remaining obstacle to the United States controlling the Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline. I met that company in 1999 and have known since then about the Bridas v Unocal, $15 billion interference of contract lawsuit in US District Court, Southern District of Texas. I also know about the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals decision on September 9, 2003 that upheld the Bridas $500 million arbitration settlement and the March 22, 2004 denial of Writ of Certiorari at the United States Supreme Court, Case 03-1018, Turkmenneft v Bridas.

3. I demand to know how many prisoners are being held at GITMO and other places that are either BRIDAS EMPLOYEES or are persons that know all about Bridas Corporation and what your administration did to get control of that Trans-Afghanistan pipeline.

4. I demand to know how many board meetings Condoleezza Rice and Thomas Kean sat in on at Chevron and Amerada Hess where it was discussed how they were going to deal with making the billions in "Big Oil" investments into a land locked Caspian Basin and how to get rid of the Taliban and Bridas so they could turn those investments into cash flow. How many times did Big Oil ask for military force to complete a commercial transaction they could not get under their control, and on what exact date did you agree to provide such military force - prior to 9-11? Isn’t it true Mr. Bush that the Cheney Energy Task Force discussed that attack on Afghanistan and removal of the Taliban / Bridas obstacle once and for all – and did so well in advance of 9-11?

5. I demand to know why you appointed 10 persons to the 9-11 Commission, 8 of which are directly benefiting by the Taliban / Bridas "contract" obstacle being removed - breached with military force, and the big Caspian Oil deals that are now coming to market. No, America does not 'thank you' for that nor do we hold such despicable conduct up high."

And with regards to Osama's latest 9/11 confession.....

Its more a question of what Osama fails to mention......

While many sectors in the US are suffering from the economic crunch, top weapons manufacturers are awaiting new orders, hiring new people, looking for new investments and gaining attention on the stock market.

The September 11th attacks gave the military-industrial complex further justification for increased military production and an excuse to use war to boost the sagging US economy.

Boloboffin says:
Hang your "fat Osama" arguments out to dry, folks. Osama's made an election year appearance and he claims responsibility for the 9/11 attacks.

October 30, 2004
Actually, this is the second time an obviously fake Osama has taken credit for September 11. The first time was on December 14, 2001. (See The Fake bin Laden Video Tape.) Bush is right—the tape wasn’t “doctored,” it is an outright fake. Of course, that’s not what Bush meant. “Those who contend it’s a farce or a fake are hoping for the best about an evil man. This is Bin Laden unedited. This is… the Bin Laden who murdered the people. This is a man who sent innocent people to their death.” In other words, if you take a look at the video captures linked above and arrive at the conclusion the “confessing” bin Laden looks nothing like previous images of bin Laden, you’re with the terrorists. But then truth is a threat to national security.
..... It only took the Bush administration a few hours to finger Osama bin Laden, MINUS ANY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE. As former CIA agent Milt Bearden told Dan Rather on the day after the attacks, “If they didn’t have an Osama bin Laden, they would invent one,” and this is precisely what Bush and the Straussian neocons did—they took a former CIA asset and turned him into an ominous menace in order to launch a pre-planned war on terrorism and ultimately attack Iraq.
http://www.kurtnimmo.com/blog/

STATEMENT OF GUILT.
The interrogator begins the interrogation by making clear his conviction that, based on all available evidence, the suspect is guilty; if he fails to communicate this belief there is no reason for the suspect to confess.
At this time, the interrogator may choose to reveal only some of the evidence, saving other details for later to undermine the suspect's confidence, or withholding certain information that only the perpetrator would know, as a way to verify the veracity of a confession (and as further evidence that the confession was not coerced).
After this statement, the interrogator should briefly pause, then rephrase and repeat the statement with a "hook" (a leading question that allows the suspect to confess without using words). Some suspects will nod their heads at this point, effectively ending the interrogation. Other suspects, however, will begin to deny their involvement in the crime.
http://www.truthinjustice.org/get-confession.htm

Hmmmmmmmm
Where have I seen this type of stategery?

President Bush is flatly rejecting offers from the Taliban government to hand Osama bin Laden over for trial if the United States stops bombing Afghanistan and provides proof that the Saudi exile was involved in the September 11 terror attacks on New York and Washington.
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2001/oct2001/tali-o16.shtml

Threats of new terrorist strikes against Britain and the US from Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida group amount to an admission of guilt for the September 11 attacks, the deputy prime minister, John Prescott, said today.
Mr Prescott, speaking while on a diplomatic mission in Moscow, argued that the latest statement from al-Qaida strongly suggested Bin Laden's culpability for last month's attacks on New York and Washington.
"What I have heard about the message given ... is basically confirming, I think, the guilt of Bin Laden, who has made it clear that he wants to continue these actions," he told BBC1's Breakfast with Frost programme this morning.
THE NEW THREATS FROM AL-QAIDA CAME FROM SPOKESPERSON SULAIMAN ABU GHAITH, in a video-taped statement broadcast on Qatar's Al-Jazeera Arabic TV news network.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/waronterror/story/0,1361,573975,00.html

He (Sulaiman Abu Ghaith) rose to worldwide attention following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In October 2001 he appeared on two widely-circulated videos (first broadcast on al-Jazeera television) to defend the attacks and threaten reprisals for the subsequent US invasion of Afghanistan, saying "Americans should know, the storm of the planes will not stop... There are thousands of the Islamic nation's youths who are eager to die just as the Americans are eager to live." These statements caused the Kuwaiti government to strip him of his citizenship.
His whereabouts, as he moved around to escape capture by the United States in the following months, are unclear. In July 2003, a Kuwaiti minister announced that the Iranian government had offered to extradite Abu Ghaith to Kuwait, but that Kuwait had refused the offer. It is unclear (as of July 2003) whether he is currently in Iranian custody, or indeed in Iran at all.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulaiman_Abu_Ghaith

But are Abu Ghaith’s pronouncements reliable? Are they, perhaps, intended to frighten or impress weak-minded people?
It is significant that Ghaith’s statements mirror similar statements made privately among al Qaeda operatives. As a rule of thumb: when secret communications reflect public pronouncements, it is time to pay close attention. Under such circumstances, U.S. officials should be exhaustively investigating all reports suggestive of a possible nuclear attack.
When would such an attack take place?
http://www.tldm.org/News5/July4th.htm

The warnings were ``a cover-up for the ugly face of the onslaught by the Democratic Party against the Republican Party after the American president announced he was aware of the Sept. 11 operations and because of the economic problems the American government was suffering from,'' Abu Ghaith said.
http://truthout.com/docs_02/06.24C.obl.alive.htm

The statement, attributed to Kuwaiti Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, also claimed that bin Laden's al Qaeda network was responsible for the attacks last month against an Israeli-owned hotel and an Israeli airliner in Mombasa, Kenya, though it provided no proof.
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/12/08/al.qaeda.statement/

Boloboffin says:
So there you have. Al-Qaeda carried out the attacks, and Bush's incompetence and negligence allowed the attacks to be successful beyond Osama's dreams. Osama said so.

An Al Jazeera editor said the Qatar-based channel had received the video tape on Friday but did not say how. He said the tape was new but did not give any details.
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=6665004&pageNumber=1

Bush's father thought it was a good thing to put his sons to govern states. And he did not forget to transfer (election-) forging skills from the presidents of the region to Florida to use them in critical times.

So, the key issue is whether America is at war or at peace. And Osama bin Laden has more to say about that than any other person. If he ratchets up the terror threat to the United States and has us looking over our shoulders and thinking twice before we fly, we will feel at war and will back Bush. But if he lets up and backs off for the election, we will revert back to our peacetime posture and likely elect the Democrat.

For weeks now, the Republicans have been suggesting that a vote for Senator John Kerry means a vote for al Qaeda. Even bumper stickers have reinforced that message.
<snip>
Now, in the light of the bin Laden video, people are asking: why would the media savvy Saudi dissident issue a tape that could lead to the re-election of President Bush?
As conspiracy theories ran rife over the weekend, one of the most bizarre was that the man who had stage-managed the video's release was the chief political strategist of the US President, Karl Rove.
The revered American former news anchor, Walter Cronkite, said on CNN's Larry King programme that he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man ... probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

The video tape that was to prove Osama bin Laden was alive, apparently well and in combative mood, first surfaced on a doorstep in the plush suburbs under the Margalla Hills, on the edge of Pakistan's capital, it was claimed yesterday.
<snip>
The journalist, a Syrian, who had met Bin Laden twice before September 11 and published a book on the interviews, had also received an audiotape from the al-Qaida leader in 2002.
But the drop-offs have now become a touchy subject, reflecting Pakistani sensitivity over reports that Bin Laden is hiding in the country's lawless border areas.
Yesterday, the information minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, told the Guardian that the tape drop story was a "joke". He said: "It's garbage to suggest that someone could have just dropped the tape there. These days it's not possible for a guard to just take a package without knowing what it is."
Mr (Ahmad Muffaq) Zaidan, speaking from his home, said al-Jazeera's management had ordered him to make no further comment.

U.S. intelligence agencies concluded recently that al Qaeda — fearing its credibility is on the line — is moving ahead with plans for a major, "spectacular" attack, despite disruptions of some operations by recent arrests in Britain and Pakistan.
Officials said recent intelligence assessments of the group, which is blamed for the September 11 attacks, state that an attack is coming and that the danger will remain high until the Nov. 2 elections and last until Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN - A new videotape that has surfaced in Pakistan threatens a massive attack against the United States by a purported American member of Al Qaeda. It is not yet known if the tape is an authentic Al Qaeda production, but it bears enough resemblance that some experts are taking the tape seriously.
The chilling 75-minute digital videotape, seen by a Christian Science Monitor reporter in Pakistan, where it was obtained by ABC News, shows a high degree of sophistication and bears the logo of Al Qaeda's video production house, As-Sahab.
On the video, the unknown man's face is masked with a Palestinian scarf and sunglasses. He stabs the air with his finger, which appears to be fair-skinned, as he delivers his warning in American-accented English.
<snip>
Ahmad Muffaq Zaidan, Pakistan's bureau chief for the Arab-language network Al Jazeera and the recipient of past As-Sahab material here, also rated the material genuine. "We have seen this style before - the translation, the logo, the scroll," he says.
<snip>
The courier who delivered the tape would reveal nothing about Al Amriki's identity, saying only that he received the material last Friday in Peshawar. He insisted it had been filmed in Pakistan's tribal belt, where militants are battling the Pakistani military.
<snip>
US law enforcement agents have suggested it could be Adam Yahiye Gadahn, an Orange County native, suspected by the FBI to be working with Al Qaeda, possibly as a translator. Mr. Gadahn, who was born Adam Pearlman, also goes by the nom de guerre Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/1029/p06s01-wosc.htm

Al qaeda is now reduced to depending on AMERICANS NAMED PEARLMAN!!
I would say that they have most certainly lost ALL credibility.
AND WHY DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE A DAMN GOAT?

Gadahn, raised on his family's 40-acre Winchester goat farm with his siblings, began attending services at an Orange County mosque after moving in with his grandparents in Santa Ana. In 1995,
(at the age of 14???)
he filled out paperwork declaring he had accepted Islam.
He was later expelled from the Islamic Society of Orange County when he attacked the center's president, Haitham "Danny" Bundakji.
http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_adam29.f4b9.html

Federal agents believe the man may be Adam Gadahn, a now 25-year-old American
(filled out paperwork declaring he had accepted Islam in 1995)
who was identified as a member of Al-Qaida in May.
He has not been seen in the U.S. since the mid-90's. Gadahn, whose real name is Adam Pearlman, used to live on a ranch in Riverside County before moving in with his grandparents in Santa Ana.
He converted to Islam and joined a Garden Grove mosque, where he also started working. However, he was fired at one point and got in trouble with police for an alleged assault on an official after being let go. He has not been seen since, and a Garden Grove bench warrant still exists.

The leader of the Orange County mosque where Adam Yahiye Gadahn, suspected of being an al-Qaida operative, converted to Islam said Friday that he believes Gadahn is the shrouded man who appears on a videotape warning of bloodshed in the United States.
"I've known him when he was here. I recognize his voice and gestures," said Haitham Bundakji, president of the Islamic Society of Orange County in Garden Grove, where Gadahn once worshipped daily. Gadahn, 26, was expelled from the mosque after punching Bundakji in the face.
Bundakji said he last saw Gadahn in 1998 but said he is convinced because of the man's voice and the way he moves his hands. Gadahn's relatives who have seen the tape cannot identify the speaker, a relative said. Bundakji said FBI agents contacted him Thursday and Friday and were planning to meet with him Friday afternoon.
"I really regret this happened from a person who claims Islam to be his religion," Bundakji said.
http://www.pe.com/breakingnews/local/stories/PE_News_Local_adam30.57a0b.html

A couple of snippets from the tape aired on ABC News last night, after being analyzed by Brian Ross and the network's investigative team. Ross said the tape was received by an ABC producer in Pakistan. Specialists from the FBI and the CIA also scrutinized the video.
None of them could say for certain that the tape was real - or pin down the motives of those who put it out and promoted its airing at such a politically sensitive time.
But here was a hint.
First word of the tape leaked on the Drudge Report. Matt Drudge and then other right-leaning pundits pounded on ABC to air it, while Ross and his broadcast colleagues moved methodically. The righties certainly didn't think it would hurt Bush.

It's absurd that we're mired in Iraq - an invasion the demented vice president praised on Friday for its "brilliance" - while the 9/11 mastermind nonchalantly pops up anytime he wants. For some, it seemed cartoonish, with Osama as Road Runner beeping by Wile E. Bush as Dick Cheney and Rummy run the Acme/Halliburton explosives company - now under F.B.I. investigation for its no-bid contracts on anvils, axle grease (guaranteed slippery) and dehydrated boulders (just add water) .

By Heba Kandil DUBAI (Reuters) -
A group called Tawhid and Jihad has beheaded an American hostage in Iraq, according to a video posted on a Web site on Saturday.
<snip>
Unlike previous videos by Tawhid and Jihad Group, the footage did not show the group's flag, or masked militants. The American was wearing trousers and a T-shirt and not an orange jumpsuit as worn by previous hostages of the same group.
But the statement, signed by the Tawhid and Jihad Group, bore the same logo that had appeared in previous statements including most recently Saturday's threat to kill Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi.

The video was initially released on kazaa with titles like "new iraqi execution", the very day that the Nick Berg execution tape was released.
http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Benjamin_Vanderford

Mr Vanderford told the BBC World Service he did not send the video to anyone, but made it available on internet share networks. The "people of the world" did the rest, he said, and the video found its way to Arab television stations on Saturday and then a US news agency.
"I THOUGHT ABOUT THE NATURE OF THE AMERICAN MEDIA AND HOW EASILY IT CAN BE MANIPULATED," he said on the World Today programme.
Once the Arabic news channel al-Jazeera broke the story, it was picked up by the Associated Press news agency "AND THEN SUDDENLY IT WAS THE 'TRUTH', WHEN ACTUALLY NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE HAS BEEN RECOVERED", he said.

THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU INSULT REAGAN
This letter is in response to Doug Lief's column "Saving face" (Viewpoint, Feb. 22). While I usually much admire Lief's humor and witticism, I believe it should be pointed out that he's not always right. Now, while I don't necessarily advocate Reagan being featured on Mt. Rushmore, I think that the man deserves some degree of respect, even from us omnipotent, pompous college students.
What's more, if Lief condemns partisanism, then it would certainly be a relief if he actually practiced such a virtue. His cracks about the Republican Party, though admittedly funny, have nothing to do with Reagan's personal accomplishments or downfalls, nor do they hold water for an argument on Salmon's bill - that is, after all what Doug is talking about, isn't it?
I believe Lief's comments about Reagan's Alzheimer's disease were ill-placed and insulting. Would it be too difficult to let the man die in peace?
Maybe you could spare him a little dignity that used to come with being a president of the United States, or did Clinton ruin that one for you? People who support Clinton love to claim that Slick Willie should stay in office because of "the will of the people," yet they so conveniently forget that the same will re-elected Reagan. And if you're going to be dissing Nancy - have you looked at Hillary lately?
You seem to forget the main thing that Reagan did for this country. Everybody loves to talk about economics and Iran and the debt. Great. Well, in your allusion to Austin Powers and the '60s, you forget about - that's right - the Vietnam War (which two Democrats got us into, if you don't remember).
We had two lame duck presidents after Vietnam - Ford and Carter. Not until Reagan did this country have the leadership to start getting over that great debacle, and even though everybody still loves to blame everything on Nixon, it's Reagan who helped the country begin to put it behind us.
I have one comment to make on the segregation claim. You are false on one premise and simply ignore another. You ignore that President Johnson (these Democrats just seem to keep coming up, don't they?) was the guy who allowed segregation to happen in the first place.
It was the Southern Democrats that had opposed desegregation in the middle of the century; there were no Republicans in the South at the time.
In closing, while Lief has painted an amusing and comical picture about our former president, I believe that his argument falls far short of being sound.
And though I know that I must sound like I have a gigantic stick up my ass, I have little tolerance for one's inability to let an honorable man die in peace, while conveniently forgetting major chunks (Lief claims to remember Reagan's 1985 State of the Union address, when he was 4, maybe 5 years old at the time), and he does this all in the name of non-partisan commentary.
Doug Lief, if nothing else, you're just full of crap.

SANCTIONS KEEP THE WORLD RUNNING
In response to Fadi Amer's column, "Embargo part of U.S. political agenda" (Viewpoint, Feb. 28), I can only ask what the big news is. Of course the embargo comes from a political agenda. All embargoes do, their very purpose is to place political and economic pressure on a given country or region.
Is the U.S. government hypocritical for using the smoke screen of human rights protection? Yes. Are there powerful people running countries who are just as psychotic as Saddam Hussein? Without a doubt. Is the United States disallowing any hegemony in the Middle East? Tell me why we shouldn't.
This is not a racial issue as some might like to believe; it's a political one. The Middle East has been a conflict-ridden region since long before our constitution was signed. The problem is that now the conflict has a serious effect on the rest of the world. If war is allowed to sweep across the Middle East - and it makes no difference which countries are involved - it is feasible that we will slip into a world-wide energy crisis that could potentially freeze the global economy.
People who disapprove of globalization may like this and environmentalists may use this in their lobby to develop non-fossil fuel energy resources. But it is a matter of fact that if such a catastrophe were allowed to occur, it would be hard to supply the paper that Amer's column was printed on.
Should the United States act as a global police force? I don't care - that's not my argument. What I believe I have illustrated is that, in our current state of affairs, it is no surprise that the embargo against Iraq is being maintained. And the fact that it is part of our government's political agenda is simply obvious. The trade-off is that the people of Iraq are suffering. But if my prior argument is valid at all, I don't see how that suffering would be curbed if there was an ongoing regional war instead of the embargo.

..... At least Pearlman admits to the possibility of a smoke screen by the government. This "smoke screen," as Pearlman calls it, is also known as a lie. Beyond the well-being of the innocent Iraqi people, the citizens of this country must be concerned with the use of lies by our government.
Pearlman should see that the use of "smoke screening," not only in Iraq but also in many other situations, will lead to distrust in the political system and the ultimate demise of representative government. This is an issue that the citizens of this country can never accept.

How many students from UCLA named ADAM PEARLMAN received CAPPP internships?

Since Fall Quarter 1991, the Center for American Politics and Public Policy (CAPPP) has offered students the ONLY opportunity to work in Washington, DC while remaining a full-time student at UCLA. The CAPPP Quarter in Washington program, which combines academics with an internship experience, was one of the first of its kind among American universities and continues to be a model for other academic internship programs.
CAPPP now offers two programs: one for the Fall & Spring quarters, one for the Winter Quarter. While the two programs differ slightly in their course offerings, both will offer the same close faculty interaction and substantive internship placements. Please see the chart below for a summary of the two programs

JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE IN CALIFORNIA ARE NAMED ADAM PEARLMAN GADHAN?

Thursday, May 27, 2004
Pearlman described her nephew as a curious, bright, heavyset young man who followed his faith to Pakistan and called her more than a year ago to say he was marrying an Afghan refugee.
In some respects, GADHAN'S CASE IS REMINISCENT OF THAT OF JOHN WALKER LINDH, THE "AMERICAN TALIBAN" from Marin County, who embraced Islam, traveled to Afghanistan, met Osama bin Laden and was captured by U.S. forces in December 2001.
Pearlman said her brother Phil, Gadahn's father, was a sometimes-rock musician who had been heavily influenced by the 1960s milieu while growing up in suburban Santa Ana. He was Phil PEARLMAN then, but when he married he and his wife came up with a name that had no particular meaning, GADHAN, his sister said.
Phil Gadahn and his wife, Jennifer, brought up their children on a farm in Riverside County. Among other things, they raised goats, which they butchered in accord with Islamic dietary laws so they could be sold to Muslims.

Just in Time for the Election: Streets of Blood
It’s also rather suspicious that the last time we heard about ADAM YAHIYE GADHAN, aka ADAM PEARLMAN, was back in May when AG Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller cited “credible intelligence from multiple sources” that “al-Qaeda plans to attempt an attack on the United States in the next few months,” an all too common mantra dragged out periodically to scare the pants off easily frightened Americans. Back in May the occasion was the G-8 summit in Georgia and the Democratic and Republican conventions over the summer (all three events went off without a terrorist incident).
As for Gadahn, aka Pearlman, neither Ashcroft or Mueller were able to provide much in the way of information about the suspect, leading a few people to believe they were pulling terrorist suspects out of their hats. Aafia Siddiqui is another alleged terrorist—presented alongside Pearlman at the Ashcroft and Mueller news conference—and we are told she is dangerous and on the loose—and yet, a month before the news conference, Chicago’s NBC 5 said Siddiqui was being interrogated by American intelligence officials and had been in custody for a year.
In short, either the Justice Department and the FBI are grossly incompetent, don’t know what they are doing—or they make this stuff up as they go along. Now we are told Adam Yahiye Gadahn, as a representative of “al-Qaeda’s media liaison organization” (no, I don’t make this stuff up), has sent a videotape to ABC (or ABC somehow acquired the videotape), it is an hour long, and Gadahn, who grew up in California, says the streets of America will “run with blood” and “America will mourn in silence” because they will be unable to count the number of the dead, or so Matt Drudge tells us.
In the next few days, as we descend on the election, this story will grow and eventually the video will air on television, elevating the fear factor so crucial for Bush’s “re-election.”
Obviously, Karl Rove is worth every penny the Republicans pay him.

the Official CT supporters should be reporting to the CIA/FBI/DHS, asap. Yet, only silence. Not even a thank you for helping protect us all from homegrown fake terrorists.
Also wondering how CIA really does determine a tape's 'authenticity'. Just depends on whose 'authenticity' I guess.
