Mother of 7 indicted for aiding suicide bombing
Latifa Abu Thra'ar, 39 was indicted Thursday at the Samaria Military Court for having transporting an explosives belt for a suicide bomber on December 8 and assisting the planning of the attack.

Halil Marsud, a member in the Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigade, enlisted Latifa, gave her the belt and explained that soldiers would not be searching women as carefully as they did men.

Latifa, a resident of the Balata refugee camp near Nablus, is a mother of 7, and was to be paid NIS 300 for her assistance. She gave the suicide bomber the belt near Kfar Kassem and instructed him to continue to Rosh ha-Ayin – near Tel Aviv, promising to take care of his family after the event.

She promised to take care of his family. What a humanitarian.

2. One more thing...
"When the suicide bomber and his companion saw that their chances of getting past security were slim, they backtracked and were caught by soldiers."

would this *woman* have been so proud of herself if
she killed 7 israeli kids??...apparently

:puke:

5. The majority of Israelis voted for Sharon
That tells me they're not too interested in peace either.

7. Not necessarily
I believe the majority of Israelis voted for Sharon out of fear.

Fear turns people to the right.

Basic safety is one's first need.

Could you see that as a possibility; thinking of what happens in Israel when there are suicide bombings?

I'm not trying to change your mind; just offer my alternative reasoning.

9. Oh I understand it
But voting out of fear is the worst way to go and results in things like the Patriot Act.

Voting for Sharon to make people safer is shortsighted and totally self-defeating.Sharon has placed Israel in jeopordy just as much,if not more, than any suicide bomber could ever hope to achieve.Sharon, like Arafat, has no concept of peace. If safety is the Israeli's first concern they made a hell of a bad choice to bring it about.Do you believe that Israel is safer now than before Sharon came in? In my opinion,Sharon is helping Israel destroy itself, and contrary to what some here may think I believe that's the last thing I want to see.

20. Oh, so the actions of
some sickos in a group means the WHOLE group is suspect? Isn't that the same kind of bullshit reasoning that people used and still use against the Jews and other groups, if some members did it then the whole group is like that and are all guilty? I don't think so.

21. Nope
what it DOES mean is that the courtesy of not searching Arab women as a sign of respect for their culture has to be abandoned now since that unwritten courtesy has been used to try and kill innocents.

Of course, that courtesy never went the other way as Palestinian bombers quite happily murdered Israeli women.

13. Why did this happen?
Do you think this would have happened if they were not taught by Muslim fundies that suicide bombing guarantees a place in heaven? Muslim fundamentalism is the elephant in the room with respect to the Muslim world that we liberals tend to ignore.

15. Islamism is a form of fascism IMO
Edited on Fri Dec-26-03 04:10 PM by _Jumper_
Like fascism, it is a discredited philosophy that is the cause of much grief in the world, particularly in the Muslim world. The Muslim world will become more isolated from the rest of the world and hence fall further behind the world if Islamism is eradicated.

I am surprised by how many DU'ers defend Islamism while attacking Xian American fundies. The Islamists are even worse than Falwell and co.

18. or,to put it another way-Christianity is a form of fascism,imo
Like fascism, it is a discredited philosophy that is the cause of much grief in the world, particularly in the Western world. The Western world will become more isolated from the rest of the world and hence fall further behind the world if (or did you mean 'unless') Christianity is eradicated.

Now it sounds a little better.

22. I am anti-religion
I will not defend any religion. However, the West is secular and the fundies are isolated here. I long for the day when the Muslim world is secular.

19. I'd have to classify the current Islamic Fundamentalism
as the equivalent of a mix of the philosophies of The World Church of the Creator with the popular credibility of Falwell. And if that combination doesn't scare people, they not bothering to think.
