Let's talk about Israel's nukes

Obama used the launch in his major address in Prague, which has been characterized as an anti-nuclear speech. "Rules must be binding," he said of North Korea's launch. "Violations must be punished. Words must mean something."

Many countries around the world certainly see hypocrisy in the Obama administration's position on North Korea. Israel has repeatedly been condemned by the UN for its occupation of Palestinian lands. Moreover, it has hundreds of nuclear weapons, with estimates ranging from 200 to 400 warheads.

Obama did not mention Israel once in his speech and has never acknowledged its nuclear weapons system. Perhaps Obama should ask Arab and Muslim nations in the region what country they see as the biggest nuclear threat. As Ali Abunimah, founder of ElectronicIntifada.net, said:

Rules are only rules if they apply to everyone. Obama's silence in the face of Israel's violation of international law, and UN calls for war crimes investigations in its on attacks on Gaza, contrast to his strident calls for Security Council action regarding North Korea. Israel has violated dozens of UN Security Council resolutions. Obama has even refused to acknowledge the existence of Israel's nuclear arsenal, though former President Jimmy Carter has confirmed that the country has 150 nuclear weapons.

1. Oh I don't know if rules are only rules if they apply to

everyone. For example, should firearms be sold to those who say out loud and publically , "death to Alan, death to George?" Probably not.

3. Great post, love Jeremy. But I think the point is that the USA

..have made it pretty clear that the american view on nuclear arms is: We will respect you as soon as you have your own, no matter if we like you or not.

But I totally agree. I fear the israeli nuclear force more than I do fear the Korean's. And that's not just because Korea is so much more further away.
It's because we knew about the Korean program ever since it's beginnings, we know where they bought and stole their stuff, and it's mainly not our knowledge that was implemented.
With the israelis, it is quite different. We practically let them steal everything they needed. Some treason, some looking the other way, and puff! the israelis have nuclear warheads.

Another thing that is never mentioned is the israeli proliferation.
But that doesn't wonder me when the MSM has not once yet acknowledged that the United States was a pretty important player in the proliferation scene - granted not the gov. itself, but parts of it and individuals in it.

Last but not least. The guy blew the whistle on the israeli Nuke program was treated pretty shitty, jail and all, harassment campaign. I think that pretty much says all about transparency when it comes to the israeli nuclear force
