Israel Vows No Let-Up in Hunt for Militants
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 10:38 AM by Herschel
- Israel's army said on Tuesday there would be no let-up in its hunt for Islamic militants after it killed 10 Palestinians, most of them civilians, and wounded about 100 in a day of air strikes in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian militant groups vowed to avenge the raids. In one attack on a refugee camp, a helicopter gunship chasing suspected militants in a car fired a missile into a crowd of people, killing seven civilians.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon also piled pressure on the Palestinians to crack down on militants behind a wave of suicide bombings by renewing a threat to remove Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in a speech to parliament on Monday.

=========================================

Israel cannot rest. Sadly, these operations must continue. I admire the restraint the IDF has shown.

4. Well said
There are 10-15 dead to my recollection. These sad accidents are few in relation to the scale of the operation.

14. Hamas
Hamas, according to the United States government and the European Union, is a terrorist organization. The group preaches and practices violence and regularly espouses Israel’s annihilation.

Yet, Palestinian attacks have been regularly characterized as “revenge” or “retaliation.” Hamas needs no provocation to attack, since it considers Israel’s very existence provocation enough. The preamble to the Hamas charter makes this abundantly clear. It states “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."

So please cut the crap.

15. I didn't know a piece of paper could carry out...
suicide bombings, run an organization, and protect it from attackers. Must be some strange feat of nature.

10. Firing into a crowd of people...
was either an example of tremendous stupidity and incompetence, which is possible, or a malicious act of murder.

13. I won't...
that's true.

How could the supposedly liberal party of the US support a campaign of oppression?
