Americans Closely Divided Over Israel’s Gaza Attacks
Americans, while far more sympathetic to Israel than the Palestinians, are closely divided over whether the Jewish state should be taking military action against militants in the Gaza Strip.

Forty-four percent (44%) say Israel should have taken military action against the Palestinians, but 41% say it should have tried to find a diplomatic solution to the problems there, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of adults, however, believe the Palestinians are to blame for the current situation in Gaza, while 13% point the finger at the Israelis. Nearly one-third (32%) aren’t sure.

1. when we go broke, and our economy collapses
and our country is split up to reconcile with our debtors, it'll be interesting (and ironic) to see how all these folks who support Israel will feel when we become Palestinians in our own country.

I'm sure I'll get a few folks scoffing at that remark, and to be sure, it may or may not happen in our lifetime. But on a long enough time line, the chances are 0 that we will forever remain a "super" power.

4. lol. sorry, but I find dystopian fantasies fairly funny.
Of course the chances are 0 that we'll remain a superpower and the chances are 100% that world will end at some time or another in the future. That doesn't make the dystopian or apocalyptic fantasies swallowed by the believers any more valid.

7. it's all fun and fantasy until one of them comes true...
then, not so much.

I'm sure that many of the Japanese folk in Hiroshima or Nagasaki would agree with you... before they were vaporized in the blink of an eye, of course.

"Frank J. Sulloway, a researcher at UC Berkeley's Institute of Personality and Social Research who was not connected to the study, said the results "provided an elegant demonstration that individual differences on a conservative-liberal dimension are strongly related to brain activity."

Analyzing the data, Sulloway said liberals were 4.9 times as likely as conservatives to show activity in the brain circuits that deal with conflicts, and 2.2 times as likely to score in the top half of the distribution for accuracy.

That means they didn't choose to be obtuse.

I was giving them more credit than they deserved, although it does make their plight more pitiful.

16. Sorry
I guess I don't make much sense at 5 AM :)

I was riffing on the gay 'choice' mantra that they always spout when confronted with evidence that being gay is inborn.

They may be unable to help themselves, and for that I pity them, but yes, the end result is dangerous to the rest of us and the world at large it seems, especially at this point in time.

15. The Operative Figure Here, Mr. Oberliner, For Political Analysis
Is the four to one proportion by which people who express a certain opinion fasten responsibility for the present situation on Hamas, and not Israel. This is the underpinning of U.S. policy in the region, and it is not going to change.

18. It's that sort of black and white thinking that I dislike about Americans....
It's an all or nothing thing when it comes to blame. 55% are dopey morons for fingerpointing at the Palestinians for what's happening in Gaza, and 8% are equally dopey morons for believing that Israel is an enemy of the US. But what can you expect when it comes to polling from a nation where the majority actually believe angels exist?

Guardian Angels Are Here, Say Most Americans

More than half of all Americans believe they have been helped by a guardian angel in the course of their lives, according to a new poll by the Baylor University Institute for Studies of Religion. In a poll of 1700 respondents, 55% answered affirmatively to the statement, "I was protected from harm by a guardian angel." The responses defied standard class and denominational assumptions about religious belief; the majority held up regardless of denomination, region or education — though the figure was a little lower (37%) among respondents earning more than $150,000 a year.

The guardian angel encounter figures were "the big shocker" in the report, says Christopher Bader, director of the Baylor survey that covered a range of religious issues, parts of which are being released Thursday in a book titled What Americans Really Believe. In the case of angels, however, the question is a little stronger than just belief. Says Bader, "If you ask whether people believe in guardian angels, a lot of people will say, 'sure.' But this is different. It's experiential. It means that lots of Americans are having these lived supernatural experiences."
