Guard seriously wounded in stabbing north of Jerusalem
An Israeli security guard was seriously wounded on Wednesday, when he was stabbed in his neck by a Palestinian man at a checkpoint north of Jerusalem, police and rescue officials said.

The 45-year-old guard was rushed from the scene of the early-evening attack, at the Kalandiya checkpoint, to Hadassah University Hospital at Ein Kerem.

The Palestinian attacker, who was said to be in his early 20s, was arrested on the scene.

The guard, who was employed by a civilian security company, had approached two Palestinian men who had walked up to the checkpoint on foot and started talking them, when one of the Palestinians suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him, Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
