Plaxico Burress talks to kids about perils of guns .
As Plaxico Burress grabbed a microphone and started telling his story Thursday afternoon to about 100 children, some of the kids were murmuring and chattering among themselves.

And then he said "gun."

The kids got quiet in a hurry.

-----

"I carried a loaded gun into a nightclub and the gun accidentally discharged and I ended up shooting myself, my own self, in the leg," Burress told the kids, part of the Urban League of Broward County. "I was playing professional football at the time. I had just won a Super Bowl. I had just received a brand-new contract. I had just signed a shoe deal with Nike. The choice that I made, basically it took everything away that I worked so hard for."

Good for him. Keep it up.

1. As long as it's just him, it's a worthy effort
If Brady Campaign operatives try to sneak into the classroom behind Burress, we may have a problem.

If Brady comes in then they need to invite NRA Eddie Eagle as well.

3. It's fine as long as he stays honest about it
And gives due emphasis to the phrases "I ended up shooting myself in the leg" and "the choice that I made."

5. No, that's one fucking idiotic lunatic's point of view.
And it has about as much "interesting" about it as the people who insist that no planes hit the World Trade Center.

7. That's one of the most pathetic attempts at satire I've ever seen
Not even slightly humorous.

8. Let's not pretend it's representative of the opinion of all pro-RKBA persons, though
Frankly, even if it weren't on Alex Jones' Infowars site--hare-brained conspiracy theory central--the author would have started to lose the moment he referred to prisons as "concentration camps" and completely lost me by the time he used the term "NWO." The only way he could have undermined himself ever further was if he'd thrown in a reference to the "ZOG."

The argument itself is, of course, horseshit as well. The provision that every able-bodied freeman is subject to being called to serve in the militia, and must provide his own weapon and equipment, is from the Militia Act of 1792; it's not in the Constitution. Moreover, neither the Constitution nor the Militia Act require such an individual to go about armed at all times.

Given that the rest of the argument is based on a false premise, I don't need to dignify it any further by pointing out the specifics of how it's bullshit.
