UTEP Students React to Possible TX Law Allowing Guns on Campus
http://www.ktsm.com/news/utep-students-react-to-possible-tx-law-allowing-guns-on-campus

<snip>

“I don't think they should allow guns on campus to students. I think the only people that should carry firearms are campus police,” said UTEP senior, Ray Beltran.

<snip>

“I wouldn't even want to come to school...because more people with guns – that's more bullets. Why would that make you feel safer?” said UTEP freshman Ludwika Solis.

Other students said allowing guns on campus can threaten the safety of students, especially if alcohol is a factor.

“Sometimes you have students in dorms. If there's alcohol involved...all these factors when they come into play...can create a much more dangerous situation,” said UTEP senior Alex Munos.

2. Sub in "gun" firearms" with "jew" "gays"
and you get the point. No data, no facts just I don't like them so they are bad. Not one intelligent argument against.

I can form one, why cant they?

6. Hey its just a choice. You dont have to be a jew or catholic
you can just give that right up, you know, to make other people happy. So they "feel" better. Especially when DECADES of crime statistics show the exact opposite effect of CCW and criminal behavior. You cant really hide your race, but you can alter your beliefs to make others "feel" better. I mean why should someone have to get all worked up and racist playing golf on a public course with a JEW, my god, imagine the horror the bigot must feel.

Datasets trump feelings, always. (the above is sarcasm)

3. Is it me or have all reporters stopped checking facts?
Lazy ass reporting.

"If the law passes, Texas would be the third state, after Utah and Colorado, to allow guns on college campuses."
3rd state... O'Really?

YES, our local tv and print reporters are at best, 3rd rate hacks.

14. How many threads on the same topic is this?
The topic being the proposed legalization of concealed carry on the grounds of institution of tertiary education in the State of Texas. Do we really need a separate thread for every. single. fluff piece that appears in some rag? Or would it really be too much to ask to have just one thread on this topic, and put all the references into that one thread?

You're limited to technology that was available when the constitution was written.

Better get rid of that computer and get yourself a manual press.

21. You do realize that the first amendment is only a restriction on government, yes?
DU is, for all intents and purposes, private property.

Your ability to post is subject to any restriction that the administrators wish to impose, rational or not.

15. And let me throw in my own son's comments
He is a student at UTEP. He is "all for" allowing anyone that is willing to go through the process of obtaining a CCw to carry on campus. UTEP is literally a stones throw from Juarez mexico and has been hit with stray gunfire from across the border in Mexico.

You can talk to dozens of students and get dozens of opposing opinions.
