People wearing the uniforms of enemy soldiers

On Edit: Looks like tripod.com doesn't want their images linked to.

Sometimes the potential political content of a piece of clothing is less important than its value as a reminder of the period of history from which it came. Many firearms enthusiasts are interested in weapons mainly for their connection to the past. War reenactment groups provide opportunities to educate young people about history.

A couple of years ago I saw twenty men dressed in Confederate uniforms marching in the San Diego Saint Patrick's Day Parade. They weren't pro-slavery or racists; just some history buffs showing off their authentic Civil War clothing, weapons, and accoutrements. While some people may have an understandable visceral reaction to someone dressed, for example, in a World War II era German military uniform, one should not be too quick to jump to conclusions about WHY the person is wearing that kind of attire. He may simply be a member of a reenactment group.

Here are a bunch of nice guys wearing Nazi uniforms:

See http://www.21stpanzer.com/

And a bunch of nice guys wearing World War II era Japanese uniforms:

And some nice guys reenacting General Lee surrendering a whole army of guys in Confederate uniforms:

And some really nice guys dressed in the uniform of the most horrible enemy the USA ever had:

2. I dunno
Check out the sites listed here if you are interested in reenactments:

If I was retired I'd be all over historical reenactments.

6. IIRC...
Those may be zouaves, which IIRC, are a type of elite infantry unit whose uniforms are inpired by simalar units in France.

Join us for the 37th annual Feast of the Hunters' Moon on October 2 and 3rd, 2004 at Fort Ouiatenon Historic Park near West Lafayette, Indiana. Over 8,000 costumed participants recreate 18th century life at a French trading post along the Wabash River.
