Teargas used to end Zambian students' riot
Lusaka - Riot police on Tuesday fired teargas and gunshots to disperse hundreds of University of Zambia students rioting over a proposed 50 percent increase in tuition fees, police said on Wednesday.

The students, from Zambia's biggest university, took to the streets on Tuesday night and blocked the main highway to the airport and stoned cars, a police said.

"They became unruly and stoned vehicles. That's why we fired teargas to disperse them," the officer said.
