After SC Ruling, Bush Says His Administration's Measures To Date On Climate "Sufficient"
Washington - A day after the Supreme Court ruled that the federal government had the authority to regulate greenhouse gases, President Bush said that he thought the measures he has taken so far are sufficient.

But the court's ruling was being welcomed by Congress and the states, which are already using the decision to accelerate their own efforts to regulate the heat-trapping gases that contribute to global climate change. As a result, Congress and state legislatures are almost certain to be the venues for far-reaching and bruising lobbying battles.

Bush made it clear in remarks Tuesday that he thought his proposal to increase automobile fuel efficiency was sufficient for the moment; he gave no indication he would ask the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

"Whatever we do," he said, "must be in concert with what happens internationally." He added, "Unless there is an accord with China, China will produce greenhouse gases that will offset anything we do in a brief period of time."

1. How long can he keep up this canard?

CO2 levels are cumulative, Bushie-boy. We've been filling the atmosphere with carbon dioxide for decades. Don't blame Johnny-come-lately China for the Earth's woes. The U.S., Australia, and Europe are the primary culprits. There's no denying it.
