Nov 4: GLOBAL CLIMATE DAY
http://www.globalclimatecampaign.org/

From the site:

This webpage has been set up to publicise and promote plans for international demonstrations on climate change, to coincide with the United Nations Climate Conference (COP12/MOP2 *) in Nairobi, November 6th to 17th 2006.

These plans were endorsed by the Assembly of Movements of the polycentric World Social Forum held in Caracas, Venezuela, in January 2006.and the Assembly of Movements of the European Social Forum at Athens in May 2006.

We intend synchronised demonstrations around the world - in as many places as possible - to call on world leaders to take urgent action on climate change. The 'Call to Action' for the demonstrations is as follows:

These demonstrations demand that world leaders take the urgent and resolute action we need to prevent the catastrophic destabilisation of global climate, so that the entire world community can move as rapidly as possible to a stronger emissions reductions treaty that is equitable as well as effective in preventing dangerous climate change.

We feel that there is an overwhelming need to create a groundswell of global opinion to push for the urgent and radical action on climate change, without which we risk a global catastrophe of unimaginable proportions.

To help build for these demonstrations please find the contact for your country, below, or if there is not yet one listed there contact us at [email protected]

I will be out this day with a sign handing out flyers to tell people about the catastrophe we will reap unless we take hope and turn it into action. Luckily, I live in one of the cities mentioned in An Inconvenient Truth which has announced to abide by the Kyoto Treaty. We need more cities to sign onto this pledge, and more individuals to become involved in calling on ALL those who lead to lead on this issue. You can go to the link above if you are interested in truly making a diference as Al Gore and many other concerned citizens and environmental advocates have implored all of us to do. It really does begin with us.
