Wind project along ND-SD border up and running

FORBES, N.D.

A company building a $381 million wind project along the North Dakota-South Dakota border says its plant is up and running.

Acciona Wind Energy USA LLC said its Tatanka Wind Farm has 120 wind turbines in the two states -- in North Dakota's Dickey County and South Dakota's McPherson County -- capable of generating about 180 megawatts of power. The company says that will be enough for more than 60,000 homes.

The company said 61 of the wind turbines are in North Dakota and 59 are in South Dakota. The project began producing power on July 25.

"may be the best site ever,"

and they are building the transmission lines as part of it,
so that's great.
Let's watch and see how good their capacity factor is.

3. To each his own and all that but I love seeing the big wind turbines slowly turning
in the early morning sky as at that time they seem to take on a life of their own.

5. Farming wind: You get a cup of coffee, sit down on the porch, and watch 'em spin...
:D

I am not making fun of this at all, at all, at all. I heard a farmer say it on a radio interview. He has a crop farm and added windmills to increase his income - stabilizing the ups and downs of income from crops - and he was the one with the neat quip.
