Ending shuttle flights will hurt Florida's economy

Reuters
Space shuttle Atlantis STS-135 sits on launch pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center early Friday. It’s embarked on a 12-mission to the International Space Station. The John F. Kennedy Space Center contributes some $4.1 billion annually to the Sunshine State’s economy, according to a federal report, or about 0.5% of its entire economy.

In 2008, the agency employed some 15,000 people, generating about $1.1 billion in wages and supported an additional 25,000 jobs, including contract workers as well as workers in the catering, tourism and other service-related industries.

Already, NASA officials have announced the agency will dismiss more than 3,200 shuttle-related contract employees nationwide on July 22. Thousands more jobs could be lost over the longer term.

1. Florida is
a full victim, a resource for corporate rule. They certainly won't enrich the state just to provide money for the masses because the flooding of Florida would necessitate taking care of them. Real estate scams march on. They need a fake non-productive economy because it is easier to profit on thin air and fold tents and move.
