Why FOX wins the ratings war...
...when CNN has more viewers...April FAIR Extra
http://www.fair.org/extra/0404/fox-ratings.html

<snip>
"CNN regularly claims a cume about 20 percent higher than Fox's (Deseret Morning News, 1/12/04). For instance, in April 2003, during the height of the fighting in Iraq, CNN's cume was significantly higher than Fox's: 105 million viewers tuned into CNN compared to 86 million for Fox (Cablefax, 4/30/03). But in the same period, the ratings reported by most media outlets had Fox in the lead, with an average of 3.5 million viewers to CNN's 2.2 million.

Even among Fox's core audience of conservatives, CNN has an edge in total viewership. A study by the ad agency Carat USA (Hollywood Reporter, 8/13/03) found that 37 percent of viewers calling themselves "very conservative" watch CNN in the course of a week, while only 32 percent tune to Fox."

3. Interesting - I wonder how Sat TV is measured.
cable can query its box at any time, but Direct TV AND DISH can not.

4. Dude...
The fact that Fox "News" is even in serious competition with CNN should tell us something. What this article is doing is cherry-picking the statistics. Fact is, CNN is real news, and Fox is real NOT. So what we should be asking is how the hell did Roger Ailes kick our ass again?

I heard a guy from CNN on the radio not long ago. His excuse was different from the one above. He says "Well.. Uh... more people watch CNN than Fox--if you count CNN international." As the radio host pointed out (after the CNN reporter signed off) that's pitiful bullshit.

How about Fox beats CNN because Fox is more entertaining. CNN is boring. Flip back and forth and you'll see a difference.

Paula Zahn sucks. Aaron Brown sucks. Connie Chung sucked till she got sacked. Poor Anderson Cooper... What the hell is HE doing?

End Rant.

THAT is the really sad part of it.. NEWS is not supposed to be "entertaining".. It's supposed to be informative..

With the hundreds of channels available to viewers, there certainly SHOULD be a few that give ...regular news..spinless, straightforward news..

Here's what happened
Here's where it happened
Here's who is involved
Here's when it happened..

News programs need to get out of the "why it happened" business, and JUST SHOW US WHAT'S GOING ON..

What we really need are Pure politics channels.. Let them "have-at"..but at least when people tuned in, they would know what they were seeing..

6. I agree
People want exciting news, fancy music is flashy graphics. That isn't what the news is supposed to be about. For pure news, CNN is the best. But that won't win the battle with Fox.
