What is going on with coverage of Jesse Helms?
Edited on Sat Jul-05-08 04:49 PM by Stuart G
Why coverage two days after he died? What is going on with the media? He was an asshole, second rate Senator and worse person. Has the media gone mad?

Hell, yes. A long time ago.

10. He and Strom Thurmond were two of the original architects of..
republican race baiting. Ronald Reagan took it and ran with it, and the rest is history.

3. This is nothing compared to what they did for Tim Russert -
Tim did more damage than Jesse and he got a state funeral.

5. I don't think Tim did more damage than Jesse. Jesse was in a league of his
own. What a complete asshole he was.

11. Umm... a little overboard I think...
He certainly did not do as much "damage" as Jesse Helms did. I doubt there are three people this side of center who believe that to be true. Sorry. No dice.

4. Helms is among the panoply of secular saints consecrated by the neocons.
Saint Jesse will be worshiped and human sacrifices made to for the ages along with Saint Ronnie and Saint Strom.

If so, what is there to talk about?

12. Actually he came back to life for about three seconds...
I snatched up Cheney's hunting rifle and finally put it to some good use.

9. It seems the media took a long weekend.
They really haven't reported on much of anything. Any news it seems is coming from internet blogs.

13. That's always the way.
24/7/365 cable news coverage really isn't 24/7/365. Come to think of it, it's not really news coverage either.
