I was so disappointed when he announced he wouldn't run. I think this time he'd pick Bob Graham as his running mate (it should've been him last time!). If he ran, I think he'd pick up the nomination easily and would be the best president ever (I have never wanted a candidate to win as badly as I wanted him to win in 2000) I think he'd have a real shot, and considering that he's universally well-known, wouldn't have to spend any money trying to let people know who he is. His biggest problem (that he's not the greatest speaker), would be solved if he just presented himself as he did in his concession speech: charming, humorous, caring (the exact opposite of Shrub)

Can you imagine the headlines:

Gore defeats Bush again! This time he actually heads to the White House!

10. I like Gore but

the choice of a President is very visceral for most voters, who, unlike us, don't vote along party lines or on policy. They vote for whom they like and trust. Gore simply cannot be personable enough in the way that many of the other candidates can be. He is too stiff in front of a camera and there's nothing he can do about it, he has tried for two decades to improve. He's a good fellow, but this is a must win situation. Any one of the current candidates can improve enough in front of a camera in the next year to be far better than Gore.

he's intelligent, articulate and very experienced.

At this point he would WAY beat all the others all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I think the stiffness thing is bullshit at this point and a repub talking point.

And after a rest and recreation period he WILL come back in.

The time is right and NO ONE DEM out there now has the charisma Gore has nor will they get it in time or over time.

Not only that - but in 2000 there was no real DU or Moveon or any of the other sites to rally the troops for Gore.

It's too late to change his mind. If he wanted to run, he should have gotten in at the beginning of the year. and I don't think that Al Gore wants another hatchet job from Al From from the rear and another from Bush from the front.

Al Gore knew that Bush would stumble and he backed out because he couldn't get the party hierarchy to support him. I seriously doubt he'd get back into the race right now even if he's been encouraged by the same party hierarchy that told him to bow out in December.
