I signed for Clark's civil corps - here's why
In spite of the black helicopter views posted here yesterday, my personal views are more in line with this discussion:

1. Good discussion
On a "slightly" higher level than the average around here.

2. Sorry
It smacks of Hitler Youth to me and it concerns me that others aren't in the slightest bit uneasy by this quasi-military proposition as an organized effort to round up "volunteers". A bad omen.

3. Hitler's youth? No way! This is reward for volunteers.
It sounds to me like insentive and reward for the average joe who wants to and likes to help at a time of crisis such as natural disasters, terrorist attacks, etc.

It sounds like a good idea to me. At least from the articles I've read.

Quasi-military? There is no uniform or anything! This is about benefits for volunteers.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Clark supporter.

4. Thank you
You may not be a Clark supporter (and that's perfectly fine), but you're helping to interject a voice of reason. And that's always welcome. Thank you.

And good luck with Gep. He may not be my candidate, and I might not always agree with him, but he's done a lot of good and has always stood up for labor. Good luck with him.

5. I don't like Gephardt!!!!

(edited to change the spelling)

The picture is of Jimmy Carter! :-)

I have to change the picture. :-) People mistake him for Gephardt.

I'm not a big fan of Gep and I don't wish him that much luck. :-)

For now I'm undecided. I like Kerry but Edwards is almost becoming my favorite. They are nose to nose. Clark is a very close third place.

Am I wishy-washy or what?

6. lol
Oops. Heheh, yeah, it does look like Gep. Sorry. :)

I'm not a big fan of his either, but I can see certain qualities in all the 9 (10) candidates that I can respect. And I think the final nominee, whoever he is, will need the supporters of the other candidates.

Don't worry about being undecided. That's perfectly fine. Take your time. Don't feel rushed into it by the Clark promoters or the Clark bashers. I have enough confidence in my guy that I don't want someone to rashly back him and then rashly leave him. Take your time and come to a reasoned and prinicipled decision. Don't worry, we'll still be here when you're ready to make your choice. I hope with time and as you see more of the candidates, you'll come to like Clark more -- but I'm probably biased. :)

Good luck with your decision making, whoever you decide on.

7. I appreciate your comments.
Let's get positive and stay that way.

I didn't know how I was going to feel about the volunteer reserves but judging by some of the positive comments from people who really do want to do something for our country, I began to see that it is an uplifting idea. It strikes against the cynicism that I am sorry to say I have allowed myself to fall into about our nation.
