Competing for the general’s affection
Competing for the general’s affection

Just as retired Gen. Wesley Clark appears to be forming the inner circle of his presumed presidential campaign, his longtime grassroots supporters find themselves at odds with one another.

The two Internet-savvy groups trying to draft him into the crowded field of Democratic presidential hopefuls are in a battle to claim credit for his impending decision.

Draftwesleyclark.com and Draftclark2004.com are airing their dispute in what they both agree will be the final week of their “draft” status.

1. Let them have their fun.
Clark will have a lot of support, but he's never run for any office before and campaigns have a way of taking it out of someone who is inexperienced. We'll see; too soon to tell how this will play out.

2. I Agree
Let's let the Clark people enjoy the excitement. But if he does enter the race, he is going to have alot of questions to answer. Questions like, "Can you be a little more specific?"

3. contrast this
Dr Dean is often the first among the dem candidates to respond to breaking news about the administration's latest gaffe. Dean's campaign has a deserved reputation for blazingly fast and hard-hitting responses. in contrast, it took Clark months to decide that he was definitely a democrat, and weeks later he still hasn't made a definite statement that he's in the race.

4. Yep
This would be my observation.

Maybe he will move quickly once he gets going, but does anybody know anything about military-style decision making?
