2. Some of them
got run off...but, I know there are some still out there fighting the good fight.
;)))

I already side with Kucinich and Kerry. But, I stick up for Edwards, Graham and Gephardt when necessary.

4. Gephardt Labor
A few still fighting the good fight. The Grassroots Number of 2.6 million is before counting the Teamsters. That will jack it up to around 4 million. Here is the breakdown from the AP. (includes both retirees and active members)

-- Int'l Brotherhood of Teamsters, 1.4 million members;

-- United Steelworkers of America, 1.2 million members;

-- International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, 720,000 members;

-- Seafarers International Union of North America, 80,000 members;

-- American Maritime Officers, 4,000 members;

-- International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, 104,000 members;

-- International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shipbuilders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, 100,000 members;

-- Office and Professional Employees International Union, 150,000 members;

-- Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, 50,000 members (represents workers who maintain bridges and tracks for railroads);

-- Iron Workers union, 135,000 members;

-- International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, 100,000 members

5. Thanks Brew....
It's nice to see that longtime Dems loyal to Democratic values will have their voices heard yet again. Union activists helped Gore win in 2000 and will be significant in 2004.

I don't think Bush has a chance with a mobilized electorate of union members and veterans working against him. I think he'll lose the "white male" vote, too.

6. i heard on NPR
a spokesperson for the AFL-CIO.

he said they may wait til Oct. to vote on who to support and that at this stage it is doubtful that Gephardt would receive the 2/3 vote required for a full endorsement.

7. true
Yeah thats what they said on Wednesday. They're going to cal a meeting in October if they believe there is a chance someone (Gephardt) could garner the endorsement. While it would have been nice to secure the full endorsement this early, we all realize just how difficult that is. I mean the AFL-CIO did not endorse Gore until October and he was only running against 1 opponent. Gephardt is running against 8. 5 of whom have good labor records. Getting 2'3s is extremely difficult. Nevertheless, I still see this as good news for the Gephardt campaign. Many feared they would not even call an October meeting and that they would instead wait until after the convention, they still might, but hope remains.
