Obama / Gore for 2008
I apologize if this has been posted before and I know that I will probably receive some messages that the race ain't over yet.

Even so, a friend and I were discussing who would be the ideal VP choice for Obama. Given the Ferraro flap and other statements Hillary has made, I think she has taken herself out of Obama's consideration for VP. We then went down the list: Richardson, Edwards, Dodd, Pelosi, and Reid.

Half-jokingly, I said "what about Gore?" We then realized that Gore wouldn't be a bad choice.

Pros:
Experience (both domestic and foreign)
Strongest Green credentials of anyone out there
Well-respected internationally
Strong and Credible advocate for science and technology
Actually won in 2000 (at least the popular vote)
Not ambitious

Gore has often said he didn't want the Presidency because he is focused on global warming. But, the VP would be an ideal platform for his work and he would be a great adviser for Obama.

So, what do you think?

2. Come on, Gore's been there, done that already! Get him a break!!
Biden, maybe? (Although he's never been an exciting campaigner, he's very well qualified)

4. Gore has said the only position he will consider is the presidency.
He said that he wouldn't consider a cabinet post (and I believe the VP slot) in his interview with Larry King

(link to full transcript is there if that part is not,and I have it DVR'd still)

and

“You know, I haven't ruled out the idea of getting back into the political process at some point in the future,” Gore said. “Don't expect to, but if I did get back, it would be as a candidate for president, not in any other position.”

Maybe Gore/Obama? For one term? Then Obama runs again?

5. Gore would never take VP ... nor should he
He has experience, world-wide respect and the status of an elder statesman within the party. Why would he be ANYONE'S Number Two?

However ... Gore/Obama is my dream ticket! :patriot:

6. Why in the world
Would Al Gore be Obama's Vice-President. Now you're just being silly.

Obama can't hold a candle to Gore when it comes to experience or wisdom. Give the whole St Obama the savior thing a break.

Elevating Obama above Gore - what a joke.
