signing statements ignored by msm

It's such huge news, i believe, such plain proof that the bush admin is systematically stripping our country of its very democracy. people need to get their heads outta their asses, and the msm has got to come around soon or we are sunk.

i just sent the following to my local paper:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200605020011

Editor, the Daily Breeze:

What will it take for The Daily Breeze to share this incredibly important story with its readership? The president is systematically undermining our system of checks and balances and assuming powers unprecedented for an American president.

Even if I did not hold the opinion that this is a corrupt and criminal administration, and even if I did not believe that gw bush is far and away the very worst president ever to hold the office, the news that he has, while declining to veto a single law presented to him, on an unprecedented number of occasions and with truly frightening implications, issued "signing statements" that assert basically that he is above the law he has just signed.

On several occasions he would sign the law with the sponsors present, praising them for passing the bill, with pomp and circumstance, and only after everybody left would the signing statement quietly be filed.

The provision prohibiting torture by American troops and jailers is one example. the president does not veto any bill, since to do so would risk an override of his veto. But his signature on the bills that have been passed by Congress are all too often no assurance that he intends to uphold the law in question.

This is huge, frightening news, and your paper should be reporting on it.

3. Good letter
I'm going to borrow it, ok?

The only thing I'm going to add is that the President is willfully ignoring his Constitutional obligation to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed."
