No benefits, DU,.... and other good ideas? He is suppose to go to Afghanistan.

Why should a reservist refuse to go? Can he claim Consienctous objector status?

Is there any way legally he can get out of it?

CO status is a possibility, as might be personal hardship, but it's tough, and CO status takes a while.

A hospital stay or prison term is about the only way out now, but even they aren't foolproof.

fwiw, the Newark Star-Ledger today had a story about how 70% of the New Jersey Guard is now on active duty, or will be within a month or so. This leaves us with virtually no emergency disaster personnel if we get hit with anything big. Forget terrists-- we're more worried about floods, hurricanes and dams bursting.

medical excuses is the only thing i can think of... and if they find out its done deliberatley there will be consiquences.
