Kobe Bryant Says Rape Charge Ruining His Life Too

DENVER (Reuters) - Basketball star Kobe Bryant (news)'s ordeal after being charged with raping a 19-year-old Colorado woman has been "indescribable" and he wants the case over with as much as his accuser, his attorneys said on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Laker's lawyers made their comments in response to a motion by the accuser's lawyer last week to have the case move to trial quicker because her life has been threatened. Prosecutors recently asked that Bryant enter his not guilty plea as soon as possible.

Bryant, 25, has denied he raped the young woman on June 30 at a Colorado resort where she worked at the front desk, and the defense strategy has been aimed at casting doubt over her account and her emotional and mental stability.

OH BOO-FLICKING-HOO KOBE!!!!

Whether or not your guilty, maybe if you kept your married pecker in your pants instead of picking up the hotel help, you wouldn't be in this position today. You're a famous person and you cheated on your wife, possibly committing a crime (aka - the rape). You should have known better to even do something as crazy as that. Get over yourself!!

2. I knew he was guilty the minute he gave his wife that $4mill rock
Nothing says "I'm guilty as hell" like a very expensive diamond

(then again nothing hides your assets better than giving your wife very expensive jewelry)

6. What does that say
about his wife that she accepted the rock?

"It's ok dear if you broke your marriage vows. I'll take hard, cold, sparkly, expensive diamonds over trusting your word."

5. agree
I don't know if he is guilty of rape but he certainly is guilty of adultry and he only has himself to blame for that and the circumstances of his actions.

7. I guess boo flicking hoo to her too
If she hadn't gone up to his room and let a married man put his pecker in her then she wouldn't have to worry about her life being threatened.

That sounds stupid. Doesn't it?

8. Gee...and all this when he hasn't even been convicted?
Prehaps he is innocent? Maybe he didn't actually do it? Damn! Is it entirely possible that by some quirk of the spatial-temporal fabric that someone actually accused him of something he didn't do and it might actually be runingin his life?

*disgusted look* I love how we are so eager to jump to conclusions and assume he's guilty simply because he is a man accused of rape.

9. I don't know whether he's guilty of rape or not
and I'm not reading others here judging him guilty of that. What I'm reading are people who are disgusted with him for not being monogamous since the man is married.

12. True. but your previous post
was about how everyone who'd posted had found him guilty of rape. I pointed out the posters weren't necessarily finding him guilty of rape, just guilty of an out of marriage sexual encounter. (Could be rape or could be consensual or somewhere in between, will have to wait til the verdict is in).

16. and if it is consensual...
...then this woman intntionally caused damage to this mans life. Will she see jail time or fine? Probably not.

15. I believe Clinton was married when the whole Monica thing blew up
Yet so many people here are not that disgusted. I personally think that when a man commits adultery or a woman it is up to that couple to handle that situation, it's a personal matter.

21. Exactly
The point I derived from the original poster was that Kobe Bryant deserves this kind of negative publicity for this rape charge whether or not he raped her, just because he committed adultery. Alot of fellow democrats felt Clinton didn't deserve any negative publicity for adultery because it was a personal family matter. I don't remember any dems saying BOO-FREAKING-HOO Clinton over the whole impeachment thing just because he committed adultery.

23. Good point.
I was going to make a similar comparison as well.

If Bryant is guilty of rape, he deserves what he gets, and probably more than what he actually gets. That's unforgiveable. Period.

On the other hand, if he's guilty of not keeping it in his pants, I'd say that he's got lots of company. (some of which might be posting here) Cheating on your SO is not a crime. It's detestible, sure, but it's not a crime, nor should cheaters be treated as criminals.

I don't know how this one will play out, but I'll reserve judgement on Bryant until all the facts are out. (if that ever happens)

and as a Kings fan, it pains me to say it. The mental focus of someone scoring 25 points a night while going through a rape trial is crazy.

13. Lets pretend he didn't do it(I don't actually know)
He gets falsely accused of rape, don't you see how something like that can make someone's life extremely difficult. People start looking at you different, as a rapist even though your not.(read the subject line) Whether he didn't do it or he did, what he is going through is unberable, I wouldn't be able to handle it.

25. Guys, I don't really believe he's guilty of rape...
He's guilty of cheating on his wife, but with his name and his money, just like Clinton, he's been blamed for stuff he didn't do. I think of this case like this: The girl who is accusing Koby had sex later that night. Um...if you were raped, would YOU go have sex again a few hours later? Um, no normal person would. Because of the psychology of rape, if you're really raped, that wouldn't happen unless of course it was rape again. Why is everyone so upset about this? This is the same situation that Clinton went through. If Koby is getting what he deserves, did Clinton get what he deserved? It's either he did or y'all are being hypocritical. And that's not helping our cause any. I love y'all but seriously, think about what you're saying.

26. Cheating on your wife is one thing; rape is another altogether.
In no way do I defend his infidelity to his lovely wife, or the damage he has done to his family. OTOH, I also recognize that there are major problems with the case against him. If, in fact, he IS innocent, then this case could well be ruining the life of an innocent man.
