Windows Vista and Java enabling question
I have downloaded Java but can't get it to run.
I checked the Java website and it tells me to go to Start and then select Settings.
There isn't a 'settings' option to select.

Can anyone help me out here?

1. They might have meant "control panel", but a more likely problem is version.
If you go to Start-Control Panel-System, it should bring up a screen that will show you the operating system, whether it is 32 or 64 bits, what service pack you are on, and how much memory you have. Compare that to the "systems requirements" for the version of Java you installed.

2. Hey Thanks! I didn't find a problem there with the requirements
but you encouraged me to keep poking around. I played around under system, found something listed as disabled (I think it was Java run time environment or something like that), et voila! It works.

By the way, I am only using this to see my grandson at his daycare via a camera.

You made one happy grandma!

3. Oh my. They have daycare cameras?
Anyway, if you have trouble with it, send me a PM and I'll see what I can figure out. I have multiple versions of Vista (among others) to mess with.

4. It is working fine; thanks for the offer. Yes this daycare has
cameras. Since my grandson is out of state, at least I can see him a little now and then in between visits.
Since my daughter pays more per year in daycare than I can make in a year as a substitute teacher, they
should be able to have no problem paying for the cameras!
