What Would Don Draper Do?
Edited on Wed Aug-31-11 07:03 PM by Taverner
Seriously - this is a question I have asked myself at every juncture. This man was our father that wasn't. How we viewed our dads in the 60s-70s. But this was through a child's eyes. That's the allure of "Mad Men"

It sees our fathers as we saw them as children.

In reality, we know that "Don Draper" is dead. Long since the victim of heart disease or liver cirrhosis.

But in our minds, our fathers may have always been "Don Draper."

I think that's the key to every "Mad Men" fan's desire to see more of Sally Draper.

She is the "Everywoman" that represents us all. She is the Rosetta Stone for the show.

Because she, if anyone, would know what really happened then.

Sally is the ever watchful, Jeremy Bentham-esque eye for the series.

Yes, she may not have a center role, but then again, there have been story lines featuring her.

---------------------

Full Disclosure:

I was born in 1970.

My wife was born in 1968.

We both had older parents, i.e. The "Mad Men" Generation.

We heard stories as children, heard stories as adults, heard stories about our parents that matched this show.

This show hits home almost as much as "Six Feet Under."

----------------------

I can't wait for the next season to start.

I want more Sally Draper.
