Secret Crush

Mine is Susanna Hoffs from the Bangles. Embarrassed to admit that I also liked their music. Just had "Manic Monday" come up right after "Baba O'Reily" on my IPOD.

1. A co-worker met Susanna Hoffs at a party once

The co-worker was about five-foot-nothin' and a maybe a hundred pounds wringing wet, but said she felt like a giant next to Ms. Hoffs. She said Hoffs' eyes were every bit as big and round as they looked on the Bangles' videos, and she was correct to exploit them at every opportunity.

I don't have any secret crushes, and I have the restraining orders to prove it.

2. You'd better sit down. This is a weird one.

Steve Buscemi. Yes, I am gay. No, I don't know him. But I get these . . . these . . . things for people whose talent moves me. Steve Buscemi is a hell of an actor.

It's not really a crush, though. It's just a . . . a . . . thing. :shrug:

3. You're not the first gay woman to express this to me.

It's the eyes. Weird as it sounds, something about the man's eyes has this effect on women...seemingly all women, regardless of orientation or circumstance. He's not even a classically-attractive man but between those eyes, his voice (it's mildly nasal but it's very soothing while confidently reassuring) and the comportment of the characters he plays...he has this effect.

It's like a superpower. I'm kind of envious.

4. Not ashamed of liking their music one bit

and she is a babe. I got some bangles in my playlist right beside Bathory.

But my not so secret crushes are Helen Mirren and Zooey Deschanel.

And I like Zooey's music too. But that may have a LOT to do with how much I crush on her.

My wife knows about both of them and is a little disturbed by Helen but doesn't say much since I keep my mouth shut regarding Johnny Depp and Jason Momoa.


Incidentally, if I was, Johnny Depp would be it.

He's just so cute. Such a character.
