2. It's a "Revolver Map" which is apparently used by sites to showcase the hits they get

and where they come from. When you just click the link on this page: http://www.thunderbolts.info/tpod/00current.htm you can then click on the rotating globe, "then" you see the locations on earth that people are reading from. Also the page they are reading is listed and I like to check out "what others are reading" now and again. Glad you found it interesting.
