Apocalypto is on IFC 9 ET!1 Incredibly, after our discussion th'other day.
To summarize, no, there was no reference to comparing the violence of indigenous to that of White or of positing White as superior or saving of the indigenous people in any way. The only Whites in the movie would be a spoiler.

GIBSON has a whole ouevre of violent depictions -- The Passion, Braveheart, Gallipoli, The Patriot, and on and on. He doesn't restrict it to non-Whites as somebody claimed, and not to time either since his futuristic flicks are full of it, too.

The question is more like, what is it about GIBSON that draws him to the depiction of violence in the extreme?

3. Had the Aztecs not relied on sacrifice, the conquistadors would have been...
easily annihilated. That's what happens when you let your religion dictate how you will combat each foe, including ones with armor.

It only starred Gibson.
