**New Tuesday Update on MFM--Minor Setbacks Edition**
Just got off the phone with MFM.

He's had some minor setbacks, and the hospital decided that, for now, and to be decided on a day-to-day basis, he will be staying with them, and not going to the rehab hospital.

He sounded good to me...but he told me that he's still having some trouble breathing and some chest drainage problems.

I'd say those sound like excellent reasons to keep him there.

But on the good side: He got the laptop up and running and is loving it! He can't really post, not being used to the touchpad, and with his mind a bit hazy, but he can read. And he is. It's grand being able to see what folks are saying!

So keep your vibes and comments coming! He can directly read them, and we know they're having a good impact!

4. aw shit
I didn't get my call in to him last night, now I see I wouldn't have found him at the rehab place anyway. Damn.

MFM, those tag-team sponge baths CAN'T be worth all this time in the hospital, can they?

6. Yeah, OK, well at this point I think it is safe to assume
that there is a nurse involved.

Feel better MFM.

Hang in there brother...I know you're gonna be OK soon. I was worried when you were recently described here as "lucid" but I see things are back to the normal "hazy" now .

I know I do every time I sign on and he's not here. I just got out of the hospital myself a few hours ago. I went in Sunday morning for a recurring problem. They kept coming up with reasons to run more tests, and take blood, and pump me full of IVs. My arms look like damn pin cushions. They were telling my wife one story and start by telling me the same (especially in front of her), and then when she was out of the room they'd drop the "problem" with that and switch the story. It was all about running more tests. I guess they were low on their quota for the MRI machine, too - they even did one of those and found nothing new.

Of course the tests can be beneficial, but I don't need to be held in captivity to have outpatient tests administered. The hospital DOES however make more money that way and we wonder why health insurance is so expensive.

15. Thanks, Peggy!
I remember David Letterman was out for months after his bypass surgery, so we need to be patient.

It's good to know that MFM has found a way to at least read what's going on.

Stay upbeat & positive, MFM. It won't always be like this; you've been through A LOT.

18. please don't compare MFM to a second rate comic like Letterman
It may cause MFM a setback.

16. talked to him last night
he DID sound good (O Hai MFM :hi: )

seems almost every day there is SOME small glitch with something - not even the same problem every time. he needs to be stable for a couple days in a row (yeah, like the word "stable" and MFM are ever going to be in the same universe  )

if he can't figure out his touch pad in a few days, I will try to get a regular mouse to him some how - told him there is no way I'm going to Tucson with no air conditioning this week - heat advisories and 110 F do not go with my physiology very well.

It was freaking hot by 7 this morning! I'm hiding inside until dark now!

Get up and go for a walk down the hall way now, you SOB! We need you back to your old self!

27. I'm not really sure
Hospital is near U of A, kind of mid town and I think the rehab place is on the NW side - probably 3 or 4 or 5 miles? I think they transport in an ambulance.
