Question for computer techies
I have a new laptop and I was wondering if I have to transfer my iTunes library from my old computer to my new computer or if I can access my iTunes library by simply accessing my account? or can I download my library onto my flash drive and upload it onto my new computer?

Any advice is welcome.

1. I think you must transfer tunes between computers.
That's what I did, although in my case both the new and old computers are desktops.

3. I know it used to be possible to get Apple to let you redownload things
I think officially they don't do this, but they did for me once when I had a hard drive crash. Note this only applied to songs I had downloaded from iTunes and were still for sale in iTunes. A couple of songs I couldn't redownload because of that.

4. I've got an iTunes library on a central computer, but I don't download songs from Apple.
I just load CDs and the household rule is if you load a CD onto your machine, copy it to the server. Getting them FROM the server to the computer is a two-step process 1) copy the folder/song; 2) import the folder/song using iTunes.

Now I HAVE used a library in a different location by changing the setting for the library location. That worked fine, but the "different location" has to be available when you want to access it so if it is on another machine or an external drive you have to consider when and where you access it.
