I just want this medical scare to be over.
Please. I want to be okay again. I want to go back to living my life and looking forward to the future instead of living day-to-day. I'm sick of the sleepless nights, the constant fear, the nightmares, the financial worries, the trips to the hospital, and the paranoia.

Please.

1. I am so sorry to hear this.
I hope your medical scare is over soon too. What is going on?

2. They thought gallstones originally
Ultrasound was negative. I'm going in for an abdominal CT tomorrow to find out why I've been having mild-moderate back and abdominal pain.

These last couple of weeks have been a living nightmare. I wish we lived in a nation with universal single payer so that I'd be a little less afraid.

11. Did anyone say anything about a HIDA Scan?
That test can rule out gallbladder problems. I had similar symptoms with no stones but ultimately my gall bladder was removed after the HIDA test showed it didn't function correctly.

5. I'm so sorry.
It is paralyzing when worries take over. Someone is always here to listen -- someone who has worries, too. A peaceful night to you, friend.

6. Really sorry you're going through this, and I hope things work out soon.
The uncertainty is what really causes the most anxiety. I had a lump on my neck for over a year before deciding I should get it looked at, so they removed it and did a biopsy, but I had to wait almost two weeks to find out if it was cancer or not (it was). Then I had another 10 days before I could see a doc to make a game plan for treatment. That wait in between the biopsy and meeting the doc was the hardest three weeks of my life, and my mind wanted to run with every bad scenario it could come up with (which was a lot). But once I actually met with the doc and we came up with a game plan almost all of the anxiety disappeared, even though I still had cancer to deal with. But it was that not knowing for three weeks that messed with my head the most. Hopefully you will have an answer soon and can move forward on dealing with whatever it is. Once you know your enemy it becomes a little easier than having your imagination try to guess.

Best wishes to you.

Always liked your Conan as a Librarian picture.

And I hope you feel better and your anxiety is lessened.

8. I hope you get answers soon...
I'll echo Forkboy: the waiting is the most stressful part.

I hope things aren't too bad. Hopefully something that can be taken care of with pills, and nothing chronic or life-threatening.

10. Try to distract yourself.
Get lost in a movie, book or video game. Obsessing can't possibly do any good.

Just remember, you're in the thoughts of lots of your DU buddies. Times like you are having are a part of life. And most of the time, they are nothing more than a worry and an inconvenience. You'll probably be just fine.
