Famous and/or historical people that you are related to.
I'm of the Engels/Engles/Engel/Engle family, and am related to both Friedrich Engels (the Marxist philosopher) and more recently, to George Engel--one of the labor-anarchists who was wrongly convicted of (and hanged for) inciting the Haymarket Riot.

Here's a side-by-side of my Mom and George Engel. Even several generations later, the family resemblance is still amazing. My brother very much resembles a young Friedrich Engels too, but I don't have any good photos of my brother uploaded to do a side-by-side like this one.

So what about you? What famous or interesting names are on your family tree? :)

1. My family records were pretty much destroyed in WW2
Polish- Russian Jewish, obviously nothing left over there. However my BIL is a direct descendent of Patrick Henry. His brother has a strong resemblance to him as a matter of fact.

7. Nobody. Not one effin' famous (or infamous) person in the entire family tree
Edited on Mon May-09-11 10:54 AM by MorningGlow
Granted, the family tree is truncated (see what I did there? :P ) because my maternal grandfather and all his siblings were illegitimate, but as far as I can tell, we're a fly-under-the-radar, stay-modest, boring bunch. :hi:
