2. If this doesn't make MSNBC tonight, I'll be really upset.
Maybe I need to e-mail Lawrence, Rachel or Ed?

4. My buddy Steve was the medic on duty one night and I was just hanging out with him...
.
.
.
...when an addict came running in and told us his friend had OD'd nearby.
.
.
.
Long story short, we performed CPR on the man for approx. 30 mins (the brand-new
ambulance driver with the doctor got hopelessly lost on his way to us).
.
.
.
Steve and I were scared shitless (though we didn't DARE show it -- as about
half-a-dozen of HIS buddies were in the room). We were scared because:
.
#1. We were both 19 years old.
.
#2. Neither one of us had ever lost a patient before.
.
#3. We were both 19 years old.
.
.
.
We dealt with it (as always) with sick humor. I don't think anyone EVER topped
my, "GOOD NEWS!!! I think he just slipped me the tongue."
.
.
.
When the patient came to, Steve and I introduced ourselves and told him what
had happened. He chuckled and, sounding just like Snoop Dogg (though Snoop
was probably still in diapers at that point), said "They call me Mr. OD."
.
.
.
We were not fucking impressed.
.
.
.
The Flight Surgeon we worked with put us in for some sort of commendations
which the Army denied -- as it would have been "bad publicity".
.
.
.
We didn't give a damn. What could they possibly give us that would be better
than what we had already gotten?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Though some beer and travel money would have been appropriate.
.

7. My wife was just about to let class out the other day
when one of the students had an epileptic seizure. We both teach government in community college. The public service spirit in that class clicked into high gear. Several fire fighters were in class - Melodie held the girl's head in her lap and stroked her hair until she came out of it. Another student who didn't even know the girl rode in the ambulence with her to the hospital

I am so proud to be married to my wife! (Just in case none of you had picked up on that before. LOL)
