Now here's something you don't see every day...
Woman survives wild 100 mph ride on car hood from Manteca to Pleasanton

The incident began about 12:30 a.m. at the couple's Manteca home, said Rex Osborn, a spokesman for the Manteca Police Department. The two had gotten into a fight and when Christopher Michael Carroll tried to leave in the family minivan, with his wife trying to stop him. She got in front of the vehicle, Carroll did not stop and the woman somehow ended up on the hood of the car, Osborn said.

Carroll, 36, continued driving with his wife on the hood, got on the freeway and drove at what witnesses said was a speed of about 100 mph. The woman, who Osborn described as small, held onto a mirror and windshield wipers as they went over the Altamont Pass and into the Tri-Valley.

Thankfully the woman survived relatively unhurt, but what a jackass this guy is. I have no doubt the weasel dust figures somewhere in this sad tale.

For those of you unfamiliar with the area, Manteca to Pleasanton is about 35 miles on I580 and goes over the Altamont Pass. Very windy, in fact there are thousands of wind turbines up there.

1. My dear bluesbassman!
I saw that story!

I hope he gets the book thrown at him, and she gets a generous divorce.

What a scumbag.

I know that road too, and I'm relieved she's OK.

:hi:

2. It's unimaginable that she could have pulled that off.
If it wasn't for eyewitnesses, I wouldn't believe it happened. At 100mph on that windy freeway, with the winds and as cold as it is up there right now, it's amazing she hung on that long.

I'm pretty sure he'll do some time, I just hope she takes those two kids and never looks back.

3. I hear that.
Maybe her hands froze to the wipers.

And you know how strong the survival instinct is...

She must have felt that in spades.

I hope for the same things...
