Anybody here watch the show "Community"?
I think it's about a local community college - it stars Chevy Chase and a bunch of people I don't recognize.

I watched it recently because they recently had an episode about Dungeons & Dragons - they had an intervention for a guy on the show nicknamed "Fat" Neal. He was depressed, so they all decided to play his favorite game, D&D, to help cheer him up.

The results were pretty damn funny, IMHO. They really nailed some D&Disms. Never seen the show before, but I think it's worth checking out.

The episode on hulu is below:

1. It's a really great show...
I'm a sucker for any good ensemble cast comedy, and that's one of the best. There are just so many layers, and subtle references to other shows and movies. And they rarely focus on one person or relationship to the exclusion of all the others. It obviously started as a star vehicle to focus on Joel McHale but it quickly left that behind and switched gears to become a crazy, ensemble comedy with ridiculously eccentric characters.

6. Not really at all....
He's more of the "eccentric rich old guy" character who wants desparately to fit in and be hip with the young crowd. Yes, there's some dickishness involved in that, but no more or less than the other characters.

8. I think his back story is....
He's a retired, wealthy businessman. He's pretty much just back at school to pass the time and hang out with younger folks.

2. It's brilliant...
Hi quality production values (music, editing, direction)... Many episodes are homages to pop-culture movies, other tv shows, or formats... There was a stop-motion animated Christmas special, a paintball fight that reminded me of ALIENS, and an homage to Space Camp.

I love every character, too... It's my favorite comedy since Arrested Development!

4. It took me a while to realize
that the guy dressed up as a drow elf in blackface was the Asian guy, as I've never seen the show before.

9. I love it. One of my favorite shows on TV right now.
Makes me laugh out loud at least a dozen times per episode, if not more. Great show!

10. It's one of my favorite shows right now.
One thing that really stands out for me on that show is how good the themed episodes are. I usually loathe theme episodes or holiday episodes of comedies because of how cheesy they are. The theme episodes of Community have all been superb so far. Last October, they did a zombie themed episode for Halloween that had me howling. A bit before that, they did an episode centered around a paintball game where the top prize was access to early registration. The show throws you into the action mid-way through the paintball game where the school has taken a post-apocalyptic turn. Joel McHale is great on the show, but my favorites on the show are Donald Glover and Danny Pudi. I think it's one of the top 3 ensembles casts on television.

11. I LOVE that show!
The humor is so intelligent, while at the same time being so stupid (and, at times, downright nasty), that I can't resist it. The mix of characters is brilliant (and it took me too damned long to realize that the actor who plays Annie is also on Mad Men--d'oh!)

Let's put it this way--Friday morning, it's the first Thursday night show I fire up on TiVo to watch while I have my coffee. A great start to the morning.

12. Annie is great!
I think she has the best reaction shots and personality quirks... What's with her diorama fetish?

She seems quite prim and proper for a girl who lives above an adult toy store called, Dildopolis.
