2. This one has always been my favorite...
...not because of soloing but because the performance is so authoritative, so cool, so confident, so "in the pocket"...

...although the solos are there too, and they're hot.

6. One more and I'm going night-night: The Stones, from Exile on Main Street,
the new release IMO, might be the best CD ever made..."Torn and Frayed"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b-bComz_d8&feature=related

"Joe's got a cough
It's kinda rough
Yeah, but the codine can fix it

Doctor prescribes
drug store suplies
Yeah, but who's gonna help him to kick it

His coat is torn and frayed
It's seen much better days
But as long as the guitar plays
He'll steal your heart away..."

One of my favorites of all Stones songs...

12. agreed
JP is great.

I was the biggest zepp fan in the world for a long time until I got older and wanted more mellow stuff. That's when I found Stevie Ray and Keb Mo and such.

Nothing wrong with Jimmy Page..love him. When I was first learning I spent months agonizing over how to pull the solo in stairway just right and kicking black dog.

Guess I've just gotten older

14. Thread is back? Here's Tal Farlow....he still amazes me after all these years...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37zmzkK4Wrg

He was from the South and worked as a sign painter, played in small groups with Charles Mingus (bass) and Red Norvo (vibes) as well as with many other greats, but solo he was untouchable, IMO.

23. It will have to be me- he's dead. He was known as "the Octopus" because
his fingers were so long he could play like that all day and no one else can. Robert Johnson had long fingers like that, too.

I got to see Stevie on stage with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter and a host of others. They finally quit about daybreak.
