(I didn't know until recently that Peter Boyle was buddies with John Lennon. Lennon was Boyle's best man at his wedding.)

1. He SLAYED me with a comment on "Inside the Actors' Studio" - Raymond cast
The whole cast was featured, chairs in two tiers. He was quiet, of course speaking in his turn. Everybody else got more time than he did.

ROMANO seems nice enough, not hogging but it *was* his show. LIPTON took them all through the paces, and BOYLE was just a supporting role.

Most of the show was gone and LIPTON was back with ROMANO. Hard to give a relatively low wattage guy like ROMANO a flashy solo. But he's the "star," so LIPTON asked him to do a little sample of something or other.

So ROMANO acts like the same person whether he's in an interview or whether he's "acting."

BOYLE had his head down, cleaning his glasses or something, with long periods when the focus wasn't on him. So when LIPTON introduced the ROMANO star turn and ROMANO got up to do his "acting," BOYLE said, without looking up, "Wait'll you see THIS transformation!1" Everybody cracked up, including ROMANO.

3. LOL!
Holy crap. :)

Peter Boyle, come to think of it, is one of my all time favorite actors.

5. Great as Eagle Thornberry in Steelyard Blues
Any movie with a Demolition Derby is automatically a great movie. Almost as good as a Zombie flick.

:hi:

6. I saw "Joe" in a movie theater when it first opened...
...it was like the final moments of "Easy Rider" spread out over an entire film. Really disturbing film, except probably not so much for those who cheered at the end of "Easy Rider."

In later years he seemed to be primarily known for Young Frankenstein and "Raymond," but the role I always think of first is "Joe."
