Poll question: Study shows working out to music boosts brainpower? What are you playing?
Exercise not only helps you lose weight while strengthening your muscles, but also gives you an energy boost and improves your mood. That's not all it does! It may make you smarter, too.

Participants reported feeling better emotionally and mentally after working out regardless of whether or not they listened to music. But the improvement in verbal fluency test performance after listening to music was more than double that of the non-music condition, reports Science Daily. "Exercise seems to cause positive changes in the nervous system, and these changes may have a direct effect on cognitive ability," Emery explained.

So, when you work out, what gets your blood pumping?

9. I saw the funniest thing yesterday
Sort of sweet funny. I saw these girls. They were probably somewhere between 13 and 16 a bit punked out wearing Ramones t-shirts. I wanted to kind of chuckle though because I had nearly 20 years on them and I was still a kid when The Ramones were at their peak. Maybe they're the hope of a new generation or something.

10. The Clash is a great choice
but lately I've been listening to Courtney Love's "America's Sweetheart".

(Those cats are about the cutest, most adorable things I've seen all week, RationalRose! Give them a pat for me.)

Khash.

8. You didn't read the other part of the study....
...that stated:

"Although the scientists also observed the people who listened
to Rap Music had a hard time doing even the simplest tasks
after an exercise time of 1/2 hour"......subsequent tests proved that the subjects IQ's had been lowered significantly"
